Mark: No words could express my feelings.. You have had the test of sanity this year... I hope this issue is behind you quickly. Keep the faith.. We are with you my brother. If it was for good wishes alone,, your car will be all better..
The car may still run. Last one we had in the shop cracked the #7 cylinder wall and was ingesting coolant. It also pretzeled the #7 rod, but it was still intact and attached. The car ran, but used coolant and had a noticable rod knock. Hope this helps!
Did the engine die? If not, you obviously didn't hydrolock it. Hydrolock is when you get enough water in the cylinders to prevent the rotating assembling from moving.
Granted, you could still have done some damage, like bending a rod. But if it was just sputtering a bit, I wouldn't sweat it. Dry it out as previously mentioned and see how she runs.
On the way to CI this year, I drove through a river caused by the heavy rains during the thunders storms/tornadoes. If I had known how deep the water was, I wouldn't have gone through it.
After driving through it (water came up over the hood ) the car sputtered and died. I thought for sure that it was hydrolocked. After a few seconds, I turned the key and it fired and sputtered a bit. I feathered the throttle a bit and it started to purr like a kitten. Well, a very large cat, what with a 224/224 cam and headers and all.
If you were able to drive it home, you didn't hydrolock it.
Bum deal Mark. I sure hope it isnt Hydrolock that it is a cheap fix for you.
Have you tried running it since it sputtered? Perhaps something like the MAF got wet and caused some problems and now it is dried up? I am not saying starting it is a good idea by any means right now though. I do suggest pulling the plugs out and turning the motor over and see what happens. Id hate for you to try to start it and make sure its hydrolocked if it hasnt yet.
I do think there would be some holes in the block though if it did truly hydrolock.
Don't be hating the car man.. Unfortunately, issues are quite common with high powered modded cars. Just remember a race car with 600hp like yours would have a full pitcrew following it around to maintain and repair it.
I know what you mean...I plan to try and start it just to see what happens, then go about the plugs, etc. Stupid question, I know but how do you turn the engine over with the plugs out?

Best of luck!
Thanks, and it's just the pit crews' money backer is getting a little angry...
Sorry to hear about more troubles mark. As others have said, I doubt if you hydrolocked. sucking in some moisture can lead to misfires, and that can lead to fouled plugs. Be sure to clean the plugs before you put them back in.
don't think the engine hydrolocked. but aren't the lpe turbos hanging pretty low near the oil pan? maybe the turbos succumbed to a form of 'hydrolock?'
Second, sorry to hear about this Mark but I'm sure you'll be alright since you drove it home, you say it just didn't feel right but maybe thats because something got wet like the MAF or the filters may have been wet enough to cause a slight restriction either way I'm sure once the car completely dries out everything will be cool

Exactly. Pull the plugs out. It won't be able to start, but the starter will still turn the motor over.
