Do I really need to replace my caliper pin bolts and caliper bracket mounting bolts per GM manual or is this just a liability issue with GM to make sure that threadlocker is used. If there is a technical reason to replace them then I don't mind, or can I can safely re-locktite and reuse the bolts. SAFELY being the key word here!!
You can reuse them. They're not torque-to-yield bolts, and I've reused brake caliper and bracket bolts since the beginning of time (which is when my son thinks I was born).

No - GM just wants to make $10 a bolt from you thats all. Clean the threads off - use the red auto locktite and torque to 125. You age good to go then.

I just clean them up and use red loctite.

I replaced my first set so I could have a spare set, but generally I do just clean and re-loctite. Make sure to clean the bolts and the female threads as well.

OOPS! I think he said the caliper pin bolts which are the 15mm wrench size bolts that are only torqued to 23 ft lbs. And the bracket bolts which are the 21mm bolts and are torqued at 125 ft lbs.
Steel fasteners [bolts] that are used with aluminum componets often have a coating that prevents a chemical reaction between the 2 different metals.When the fastener is removed this coating is compromised.GM replacement requirement may be related to that issue rather than stress failure of bolt.
