Am I the only one who gets tears in his eyes when driving the C6? I can't explain to you in words how satisfying it is to drive a car where you can actually feel where your money went! When I drive the family SUV (Nissan Armada), I know I basically paid for "bulk". That thing is about as satisfying as a mustard sandwich. I guess if you are starving, it'll taste OK! Then there's my wife's 05 Mustang. It's a fun car and I kind of thought it fun to compare the Mustang to the C6 when we first bought the Stang, but I have to tell you after driving both for a while, I really realize what I paid $20k more for to get the C6. The Mustang really is pretty poor in every area when compared to the C6. I've been a C6 owner for a year and a half now and I swear every time I drive that car, I realize what a car can really be when you do everything right. It's not that I try to compare the C6 directly to a Mustang or (God forbid) an SUV, but the C6 makes most vehicles look like someone raided a parts bin, picked out some random crap, and then tried to see what would fit together. As far as I'm concerned, the C6 is the ultimate in form and function. It's not all about performance either. Every other car I've driven, I find myself saying, "Why couldn't they have thought this out. I wish this worked like it does in my Vette." And that goes for everything from the climate controls, to the touch-screen nav, to the keyless entry, and even the position of the seat belt latches.
I guess you are not the only one, this car is so much fun. I grew up telling my mom that I was going to buy a corvette when I became an adult. Its not my daily driver but when I get in from work first thing I do start up my car and go for a long drive, my cousin who has always had a corvette always told me this is the anti-stress car. It seems that after I drive it all my worries go away and new ideas come into focus.
I was driving today for the 1st time in several months and my PERMAGRIN CAME RIGHT BACK TO ME!!!I find myself talking to myself about the vette!!Man,what a difference from my 01!!
mikeyc6 Thanks for your post. I love my car also. As a matter of fact I removed all 4 wheels yesterday and cleaned and polished the back. They had a lot of assembly crud and I just could not stand seeing them that way. By the way I used a set of rubber pucks I bought on e-bay and they worked great.
I waited 36 years to buy my dream car........I have had 3 other Vettes, but bought them used. When I got to watch mine being built and had it delivered to me at the Museum, I thought I had arrived in Heaven a little early. Every time I drove down the street I loved watching the other people admire my car.
Now........Chevy one ups me by bringing out the new Z06. A member of my local club just got back from watching his new Z06 being built and will have a Museum delivery Feb. 5th. I am so envious that my C6 now doesn't have the same aura about it. I can't afford the Z06 and won't mod mine out to "Look" like one. Just when you think you have reached the pinnacle, someone comes along and raises the bar!
I also wanted a vette as a kid and still do, but i cant afford one just yet, which is why im trying to convince my dad to trade me his c6 for my supra. But yeah, it is a great car, and i love it.

You got me. I read your post and got out the dictionary to look up Permagrin. Then I said it as spelled.

Just thought I'd share.

Couldn't agree more. A friend of mine who is diehard Ford guy. He sat in my C6 last week when we went to lunch. After a half hour ride to the restaurant, he says, "now why can't GM make all their cars like this one. Looks at the fit and finish of this car with *****. I love this thing."
I just smiled...because we have had many heated discussions on GMvFord topic. It felt good.
One supplemental question. I have a C5. Does the C6 have that same "oh----" handle for the passenger up in the right corner. I haven't looked inside the C6 yet. I will when I am seriously ready to buy one

It's on the passenger's door -

I can't say that driving the Vette brings tears to my eyes, but there is definitely a special feeling when in it. And the C6, unlike the other 18 Vettes I've had, actually has a feeling of quality as well as performance. This is one very special car.
