This is a new one on me....I do not see how water under to hood would ever cause an issue such as this. The valet installs in the OBD port inside the car. Water in any electrical system will cause a problem regardless if there is a valet installed or not. The big question is why would water under your hood get into the electrical system? Was the car submerged?
I will pass your feedback on the the manufacturer and see if there is any possible way this could happen. Did you contact the person you bought the valet from or the manf?
I will see what I can find out for you...Did you get the Valet from me?
Thanks,
Jim
Yes I know...but it did and we got them from you (if you're the person that started it all that is, I'd have to look it up on my CC statement since we did return them)....cars were not submerged heavy rain/regular car washing is all.....a little moisture inside that thing messed up everything......but hey, maybe you guys have tweeked them since then....this was about 3 years ago....or so..

Could not of been me as I was not even selling them 3 years ago....They have been around this long but I was not offering them.
Still does not make sense that rain and washing got water in the electrical system, but I guess it can happen.
Either way, we have sold hundreds of these and never had a problem like this. I guess there is a first for everything.
So there it is, the Window Valet might cause problems if you get water in your electrical system (but if their is water in your electrical system you have bigger things to worry about than the window valet).

I just located the apology letter and business card from the President of TOP DOWN TECH (SAN HOSE, CA) - Name is Michael Fuller - in regards to my/our two window valet's messing up our cars.....
Well funny, we had no bigger things to worry about after we removed the window valets from our two vettes, neither one of us ever had a problem again.....but hey, to each his own...the company that invented them gladly took our returns and fully refunded our money....I for one would NEVER buy one again....it scared the crap out of me.....

I've had zero problems with mine, altho savewave couldn't get his doors unlocked when he tried his.. had to use the key to open the hatch and pulle the lanyard.. bet he'll be talking to Mr. Fuller soon
I have had the Window Valet in my '05 vert since the beginning, about 2 years. It work exactly as advertised immediately and never gave me a single problem.
When I transferred it to my new '07 vert, I immediately had problems, most significantly I could not start the car. I removed it, everything returned to normal. I contacted Top Down tech support, asked if they were aware of any changes in the '07 electronics. They said they were not aware of any. They requested I return the device and they sent me a replacement unit, which has worked perfectly from the moment I installed it.
You couldn't ask for better support than this. I love this device.
I just got my Window Valet and took the 5 seconds to install it. It is a great addition and will be well used in our hot neighborhood..........Really worth every penny.

I was up late and had my wallet sitting in front of me
I picked next day shipping with google checkout for free I know it won't be shipped with next day shipping though, you should probably change that.
I hope the window valet is as good as everyone says it is. My car turns into an oven after a couple of minutes in the sun, maybe this will help my burns.

Does the C5 Window valet work with the C6? I received mine today and plugged it in and haven't been able to get it to work. I then look on the outside of the box and it says WV-100 for 1997-2004 Corvette?

No it does not.....my fault. We are sending you another one today. Just put the wrong one in the wrong box.
So this plugs in to the same port a dealer would plug in to for a diagnostics check? One of the main reasons I would purchase one is to monitor the highest speed/rpm that was recorded if I had to take it in to a dealer. But if they had to take it out to plug in to the port then I guess I couldn't do that huh?

They do have to take it out to plug in a OBDII scanner. Most likely they would plug it back in after the scan ( no programming needed, just plug it back in) and it would resume doing it's thing.

Correct... I always take it out if I know they're going to be using the port.. saves me from trying to find it later

But--leaving it in allows you to see if they beat on your car while it was in for service by checking highest RPM and speed, provided you reset it before dropping it off. Unfortunately these things happen....
