I had the CAGS installed on my '01 C5 and now also on my '09 ZO6. I've had 9 cars with manual transmissions in my day, so I know how to shift.
I found the skip 1st to 4th gears on the C5 was more intrusive than it is on my ZO6, but, it still comes on sometimes, and usually at the most annoying times...like when I start off slow to avoid a crappy road surface at traffic light when turning; or when going slowly over bumpy rail road tracks, particularly when the driver in front is also going slow; or over speed bumps, etc.
It's just a PITA, and I'd rather not even have to think about dealing with it like double clutching or shifting from 1st to 3rd when it does come on.
The CAGS eliminator is an excellent device, IMO, and Southern Car Parts is an excellent vendor!
I just popped the fuse on my 09 and replaced it with the fried smart fuse. Works like a charm.
Although the diagram in both the owners manual and the web site mentioned for which fuse to pull was just a tiny bit incorrect.
Does this device affect the warranty in any way? Can the Vette be taken in to the dealer for service, with the device installed? Or, must it be uninstalled every time it goes in to the dealer?

Depends on the dealer...these days they can void your warranty for pretty much any reason they want. Most wouldn't care about the skip shift eliminator though. If you think it'll be an issue, it's enough enough to just disconnect it.

Would you be willing to elaborate on what was incorrect and which is the correct fuse to pull for the '09?
Also, there was some discussion some where whether the wiring in the '09 was any different and that the Reverse lock-out solenoid was on the same fuse. Anybody confirm if this is the case or not with the '09?
I've gotton around it the same way on my 07, either adjust speed to bypass or shift to third to keep from lugging engine down especially if your leaving a stop light in traffic and on a slight hill. but agree it is a pain in the butt. I've been told it was a way for GM to meet emmisions standards and fuel milage on the vette
Same here, never saw the light, nor had a problem shifting.
Do people actually buy a high performance sports car,to shift it at a 1000 or less RPM, or whatever it takes to turn on the light, and make you skip shift?
I work on a USAF base, try entering the base and going through the crash barriers as you suggest and see what happens?? For some of us driving as you suggest isn't practical or safe.
for me the skip shift rarely occurs, but when it does, I find that I can put it in 2nd gear with a second effort anyway. As soon as I feel that angled path towards 4th gear start, I just push it back up to the spot between 1st and 2nd, and then down into 2nd and it goes... seems to me it only blocks you out of 2nd on the first attempt.
just did mine. Just remember it is on the drivers side in the rear of the car right about where the over axles meet the x/h-pipe near........ NOT THE FRONT OF THE CAR.
Also its the top plug "blue"
I did it in like 3.5 min, I cheated with my 4 post lift....

The computer will continue to block you out of 2nd & 3rd gears until you shift into 4th or the conditions that activate the skip shift are no longer met. Then you can put it in to any gear you want. Say you push in the clutch when you're going 16 MPH, then you wait until you coast to 14 MPH, the skip shift light will go out because you're no longer going between 15-20 MPH which is one of the conditions that has to be present, and so then you can shift in to whatever gear you like at that time and let that silly clutch up! That's how it works. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, using one of the skip shift override methods is the way to go because it's just plain 'ole wrong!
I've had problems with another brand "x" skipshift eliminator.(threw a code)
Just Ordered my eliminator from SCP for my 08 z06. We,ll see how it works.
