Are these still $20 shipped for forums members? If so I need one. It only happens once and a while but I HATE it! I feel like Im being slapped on the hand and told "NO!". Grrrrrr I bought the car, I'll shift where ever the hell I want! Lol!!! Thanks!
I don't usually have a problem as I normally rev past that point in first gear. However, it does catch me off guard and I worry about breaking something by trying to force it, so I have one on order.
Do you hate the 1-4 skip shift installed on the C6 Manual Transmission? This little device will eliminate that annoying issue.
This kit will allow you to disable the Computer Aided Gear Selection (CAGS) feature of your C5 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. This kit uses genuine Delphi Packard Electric Systems division connectors, plugs and seals to protect your wiring harness and CAGS solenoid to allow you to re-connect the harness for full CAGS function, if you so desire. This kit is designed for use on both the standard MN6 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox and also the M12 Z06 Corvette's 6-speed gearbox. No permanent modifications are required to install this product.
Takes 5 mins to install and is easily reversible.
Each Kit comes with complete installation instructions.
NOTE: This kit will prevent the CAGS solenoid from engaging but the "1 to 4" light on the dash will still illuminate when skip shift conditions are met.
Would someone please explain then what is the use of this skip shift eliminator thing. Who would ever shift from 1st during the half millisecond that the 1-->4 light is on, or shift from 1st at 1700 rpm going 5 miles an hour. This just makes no sense. Someone wanna enlighten me?
i put the cags eliminator on my 2000 and now on my 2006
i like to shift around 1800 - 2000 rpm
cags wont let you go anywhere but 4th and above and then the car bogs down
sure you can run higher rpms to shift, but , it is awfully aggravating
to drive and hit that block to 2nd gear[/QUOTE]
That's it exactly...when I test drove the car I thought I was going into 4th because it had been awhile since I had driven a manual. But you're correct the car goes from 1st to 4th which causes it to "bog" down... The eliminator let's you to to 2nd gear... It was definitely well worth the $20.00!!

I don't get this. Can someone please clear up my confusion.
I read on this thread that this "shift eliminator" thing makes it so the car doesn't force you into 4th gear when you want to be in 2nd.
My car has a light that flashes at retardedly low rpms telling me to shift to 4th from 1st, it looks like 1-->4 right everyone? The car however does not FORCE you into that gear and you can just ignore the light.
So what's all the fuss about? I would like to get rid of this annoying light that comes on all the time but other than that there is no problem. Is that what this mod does, eliminate the annoying light? or is there more to it?
Thank you!
Did you buy the car new or used? If used the previous owner may have replaced the solenoid fuse with a blown smart fuse. (the kind that has the LED to let you know when they are blown) This allows enough current through the LED to make the computer think everything is fine (so the dash light comes on) but not enough to throw the solenoid to stop you from shifting to 2nd. I did this to my 2011 M6 first week I had it.

I hate this feature on my 05 and have some mod work schedule this spring which includes a tune. The skip shift feature is combination of engine temperature 169+...speed 15-19 mph and throttle less 21% for it to kick in. My tuner has the HP system and says he resets the temperature setting for this feature in the car computer to a fictitious high number that the car never reaches for the skip shift to enable and it all goes away. So I plan on dealing with my dreaded skip shift feature that way.
Sounds good to me but can't confirm it until spring when it comes out of storage and the mod work is completed.
Granted that the device is needed in a C5 , but in a C6, you can solve the problem at the fuse box under the hood in about 30 seconds without having jack up and crawl under the car.

is this better than the fuse option?
can you explain if it is better?
looking for the best option , that does not cause any issues, or warranty issues.

I used to sell the fuse version and had a bunch of problems with them. The ones I'm selling here have never caused any issues as long as I've been using them.
