One of my LEO buddies stopped over early tonight to STS! He’s a state cop that works the I80 and I95 corridor in Connecticut. He really wanted to see how my new garage was coming along. Anyway he was looking closely at my vette and said, “That is really a sweet looking car”. I asked if he’d ever ridden in one and he said nope. So I said lets take a “quick” ride. I took him on the back roads around my place and cranked on it pretty hard. He wanted to see how it ran so I showed him. There is one curve he knows very well and can take it with the cruiser around 55 and asked what the vette could do. I showed him and he was simply amazed. Also the acceleration impressed him to say the least. I can’t say here how fast we went but it was enough for him to sample what 3rd felt like at 6000 rpm. He turned to me and said… “Man, I’d never catch one of these suckers without a lot of help. Need radios, extra cars and probably a copter! … We both laughed because I had done his job for about 20 years and knew what he was talking about. Bottom line is that it’s easy to take these cars for granted with their great performance and handling. It was really nice to have someone else really appreciate the super job GM did with the C6.
Cool story. Being a Trooper here in NJ and having had my C6 for almost two years the thing still continues to even impress me! Those Crown Vics are dogs anyway.

They really are!! BTW.. CT just brought on about 20 or 30 Hemi Chargers which I understand the boys really like. They are big and pretty fast...... also lots of room for holding perps... I think 07 is the last year for Crown Vics?

psst: I-80 doesn't run in CT. I am pretty sure it terminates at Ft. Lee, NJ.
Perhaps you are referring to I-84, but then that would be determined by which Barracks he is assigned and is not the same corridor as I-95.

He forgot to mention the help of spike strips then again did you tell him you have runflats?

Crown Vics? They look pretty good (in black and white at least) and YES they are dogs...250 HP in a car they had a curb weight of over 4000 lbs? I don't know what Ford is thinking.
Next comment...2009 is the last year of the CV (Popular rumor at least)
Hemi Charger is the up and coming police car if DCX can get on the ball and fill the orders!
Lastly, I drove a B4C Camaro for almost 7 years while I was assigned to the traffic division. Very impressive car, but not very comfortable after 10 hours in the saddle.

Top end on Crown Vic is only 110 MPH.
How are the B4C Camaro Z/28 holding up? Just as good as the Mustang 5.0?

Actually the top end on the CVPI is more like 128 (Ask me how I know )
The Camaro has 85K on it right now and other than a new radiator about a month ago, as far as I know, it's still running strong. According to my fleet guy, it really hasn't turned into a maintenance nightmare like some of the CVPI's have.

Craig,
story. Thanks for posting it. You're right, the fact is it is too easy to take what we have for granted. It is nice when someone on the outside can validate what an incredible automobile.

Anyway, nice story....
Brain cramp... your right ... it's 84 and I should know better! Because CT is so small you can be assigned to partrol parts of both 84 and 95 from a couple of barricks.

Boys and their toys. No need for a Hemi Charger, 250 hp sounds like plenty of power. By the way, what the heck is perp? A baby chick?
We have a Broward Sheriff's Officer down here, that cruises in a fully painted, with light-bar C5. Wish I had my camera with me when I saw him.
Had a Fla Trooper pull me on the turnpike, left the engine running so I wouldn't ROAST while he wrote me. Guess the sound of the exhaust was intoxicating - he wrote me a WARNING for 94 in a 65. Very nice of him methinks.

Any news on the 5.0 Past Mustangs? Good service record?
