My suspicion is that few really know the answer. There are just too many variables and ramifications for normal U.S. folks to know. Income generated here and abroad, tax loopholes and concessions made, benefits, security, health care and so many other intangibles.
So if it feels good to support your 'U.S.' company, then bless your heart!
But I would be very reluctant to buy a more expensive or inferior product just for the 'feel good' effect.

personally I would rather support a foreign owned company with US workers rather than the other way around.....I beleive that puts more money into US pockets of people that really need it.....it does get quite complicated though in the thought process with US publicly held companies with foreign factories....
