NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 23, 2007) – Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC (BFNT) has expanded its Firestone Firehawk™ Wide Oval™ tire line with two new sizes – P245/40R18 88Y RFT and P285/35R19 90Y RFT – to fit Chevrolet’s sixth generation Corvette.
By the way this is a link for prices and the size for our C6, $267 front each, $350 rear each.
Thanks. Probably something I'll look at when it's time to replace my tires.
BTW, the new sizes for the C6 are not listed in the Acrobat file for which you've provided the second link. Also missing is the speed rating of the tires in both ads.

Are these from the same company that had their tires on the infamous FORD EXPLODER?
(Or maybe the tire company that had the same exact problem with the "Fireston 500" on the FORD Galaxy sedan back in 1973?)
Hmmm...
Like GY or GM never had any issues and to this day I find Ford and the lame owner/operators equally culpable in those events. And you know, from a bad event like that, companies usually over compensate and offer far superior products to recover their good name and market share. I'd rather fly after an airliner crash because that's usually when everyone is focused.
I installed the FSWO's on my 03 Z06 back in Nov 2005 and they WERE far better tires than the GY F1 SC tires.
And even if you choose not to buy there products its good to have choices which will most likely lower prices. It's a "win win" situation for us Corvette owners, you should be thankful FS is bringing to market another tire breaking GY's Corvette run flat monopoly.

Don't tell me you really fell for that BS? You don't think driver error had anything to do with it? Palease!
Anyway, I just replaced the GY EMTs on our '98 with a set of the Fiirestone Firehawk runflats (highly recommended by the guys at Tire Rack) and I can tell you first hand the car rides much smoother and quieter (read less road noise). Dry and wet traction far better than the GY runflats.
Choice is good! Now it's time for Michelin to release the Pilot Sport A/S runflat like they did for the C5!
More is better. I hope Kuhmo makes them, as well. I've found for the money they are hard to beat. I'd give up a bit of summer grip for better wet/tread life gains any day.

So does this mean that as time goes by or as more companies produce tires in c-6 sizes that the prices go down?
I remember on another car I bought brand new in 1988 that the tires were $250 a piece for factory replacement now they can be had anywhere from 80 to $100 per tire but by other companies other than Goodyear.
I just checked Trire Rack. It appears they just added the rear C6 sized FSWO Run Flat tires and they list for $270 vs GY's $398/$399. So right off the bat the rear tires alone will save you at least $256.00.
I'm guessing a complete set of four may save you close to $500.00.

I agree with you 100% on all your comments. I loved the FS RF's on my C5 and will looking to buy a set for the C6 real soon.
