I haven't seen this before but it is interesting. If it's happening on the 05's then it may happen on the 06 and 07 models as wells. I already have 13,5k on my 07 so I will check when I get home.
PS Has anyone been able to keep their cracked start button after it's been replaced? I would be willing to pay a few bucks for it.

Mine also has a small crack from the center down about 1/2 inch. It is a 2006, and has 2500 miles on it. I barely press the button when starting, so that is not causing it. It shows up best when the green start light comes on, and in bright sunlight. The dealer ordered a new button, and I just haven't had time to have it replaced yet. I hope that the same thing doesn't happen again afterwards as it did for you.
