Tough decision.
I have a need to enjoy my cars, and although I enjoy polishing them, I don't want to make a living out of it.
My Machine Silver is my daily driver and I wash it about once a week. No problem. At its dirtiest, I am not ashamed to have it on the road.
My buddies Black C6 kicks my butt after he spends all day cleaning it one half day every weekend, but by Friday, I look better and am ready to party, not polish my car.
Owning a black car is like dating a dancer - they look great, and everyone likes to stare at them, but the maintenance will kill you.
My very first brand new car was a 1998 Black Trans Am. I thought I would love black but it was a nightmare. I had to wash it twice a week to keep in looking clean. This in itself is a problem already but then you start realizing the more you wash (touch) the paint the more swirls start to appear in the paint. It's a vicious cycle. On top of that every little scratch or nick will stick out as a grayish to whitish mark.
I learned my lesson early. I only buy silver cars or red metallic if its available. Silver doesn't show dirt or swirls easily so you don't have to wash it very often. I wash mine maybe once a month. Silver also shows the nice contours and lines of the C6 in any lighting.

I'm on my third black Corvette. mrs.savewave is on her second black truck.
If you like to keep your vehicles clean and shiny, black will show the results of the effort. If you don't, maybe you'd be happier with a color that isn't as reflective.
I've got an old dirt-colored Camry, for instance, that is ideal for not needing to be washed and polished. It doesn't show dirt and I can drive it anywhere and be in stealth mode.
I've had black, metallic red...., but with those cars I didn't have a garage. ...... Having silver cuts out a lot of extra work, and it always looks good
Congratulations on your choice - Black is IN. We obsess about our cars anyway, keep your detail cloths and spray in the little compartments in the trunk and your all set.
Go with the silver, very classy color, shows the lines, easy to keep clean. I get a ton of comments about the color. Black shows every scratch, swirl mark and dirt. I have no regrets about chosing the machine silver.
yeah, machine silver. it's great!! black does look cool though, but even though I like to clean the vette, I don't think I'll like to wipe it down everyday, etc.
