And one more word on the infamous swirl marks. As someone who was deathly afraid of this ruining the look of my beloved black vette, I contend that swirl marks are the result of careless or improper washing and drying techniques. I've had my vette for 15 months and i look at it from inches away and see very very few marks of any sort on it (and it's NOT a garage queen and has seen many a rainy day and many a wash. The key is to get yourself an electric leaf blower and leave the towel drying to those with Kia's and mustangs. Avoiding circular motions during the wash (using straight up and straight down motions instead), using plenty of microfiber towels, one set for the upper half of the car and one for the lower part, and washing and drying them when finished, and finally blow drying the car will keep your car free of swirl marks for sure.
Here is what Sal Zaino said about my black car (C5). I did and do everything you have suggested. I have been using those techniques since the 1970's o my vettes. I go to car shows and when I look at black cars, I see imperfections in all of them. Black just amplifies any imperfection.

Glad you like Zaino Polish products. I will always strive to manufacture
the best products in the industry.
I have black although my first choice was Lemans Blue. IMHO, black is best looking color when perfectly clean and that's the problem. This is my third black car so I thought it wouldn't be a problem but I'm much more particular now. If you're really particular like I am, get the silver but if you're like my friend who has a black C series Mercedes that's never garaged that doesn't bother him then choose your favorite color.
The easiest maintenance is to use Rejex only because it last longer than NXT 2. I've been using Zaino but unless you're willing to spend the time to do all the steps you might want to consider either Rejex or NXT 2.

Congratulations on your choice - Black is IN. We obsess about our cars anyway, keep your detail cloths and spray in the little compartments in the trunk and your all set.
Im going to be purchasing a 3lt z51 mn6 in the next few weeks and I had a few questions for yall. I am torn between black we all know it is the most sold color and looks fantastic when clean. I have never owned a black vehicle so i dont know what all the fuss is about. Im in the decision to order now or to buy a car that has been sittin on a dealers lot outside in the weather for quite some time. Would yall see any problems buying cars that have been sitting outside for weeks maybe month or 2? any damage to the paint maybe the car had been washed and prepped by a dealer a few times is this a bad thing?. also Im coming from a sparkling grapheite metallic 330 so it did get dusty but I never really washed it i would take it to the quarter car wash a few times a week and hose off all the bugs on the front and get all the dirt off of it but it get dirty soon so i have really never even washed a car correct. jump to the point how much time do yall spend on yalls black c6's is it a day love or hate? if i apply the full zaino will it last the longest? I want something the easiest to apply someone that have never applied or cleaned there car before and something prtty much idiot proof to not scratch it do yall recommend zaino on the car and rejex on the wheels how much time do yall normally take just to keep it clean. because I saw a black z today that was just spotless shinning so bad *** i just knew that guy had prob spent all day on his car.
take the machine silver, you won't regret it. i used to have a black irocz28 before, love it when it's clean, but picks up dirt easily on that same day. after years passed, i see swirl marks, water spots, etc...
Owned a black C6 and now own a Machine Silver could not be any happier since I am really **** retentive of the cleansiness of my car. I remember a cardboard box left light hairline scratches on my black C6 or even if you brushed up against it on accident. Like stated above never again.
I honestly think that people who dig up 9 month old threads about someone asking what color car they think they should get should be PERMABANNED Seriously.
I have had both. They are both fantastic colors. Can't go wrong with either. My first vette was black. Looked great when clean. Hard to keep it that way. 2nd vette opted for silver. Glad I did. A lot less time cleaning and more time riding. It's really hard to make the silver look dirty. Glad I chose silver.
A silver coupe with a glass roof & red calipers with the Z06 wheels are a great combo & very eye catching. Black is beautiful when clean, but for a daily driver, bad bad choice unless you can look thru the dirt, which it will be most of the time. If you feel you are "settling" by going for the silver, then go black & don't look back. If it's a toss up, definitely go with the silver as even when the silver is filthy dirty, it doesn't look that much different than when it's clean. My wife's Lexus is silver for that reason along with the fact she likes silver.
As others have said, if you don't want to spend the time to wash and dry or if you plan on your vette being a daily driver then buy the silver. I was faced with a similar decision as you and I went with black. It's really not that hard to keep looking nice and Zaino will help with that process.
Should you get silver I would order red interior and paint your calipers to bring some "color" to the picture. Chrome or comp gray wheels are a must for either color.
Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either
Get the comp grey . . . they look soooo goood with silver. And yes, the red calipers are a must.
Very easy decision if you narrowed it down to 2 colors. Black if it is a garage queen and you love to spend your weekends polishing your car. Silver if it is a daily driveror you don't enjoy hand washing and polishing your car. I have had 3 black and 1 silver corvette. Black is beautiful but only if you work at it. Silver doese not have the "WOW" factor as a polished black but it always has a "wow" factor even after driving in the rain.
I've had both and it comes down to this:
Black- spending lots and lots of time trying to keep it clean and looking good.
Silver- wondering when was the last time I spent a lot of time cleaning it.
