I guess I had better get a set of jacking pucks to keep in one of the rear storage compartments. Is there a particular kind to get or not get?
Any particular vendor to get them from?
i have BMW plastic pucks. installed on the car at 1 mile where they remain. hope they never have to be used. they are about 3/8 lower than the frame. you don't see them at all. $30+- for all 4.

Do a search on ebay for "CORVETTE C5 C6 JACK JACKING LIFT PADS PUCKS". About $20 delivered. Includes a nice bag that seems designed to fit so it takes minimal space.
I prefer the rubber to metal. There have been comments that the metal can scratch or bend the lifting points. Also the metal is slicker so the jack will slip easier.
And, in answer to a comment in another thread, I doubt that a piece of rubber in compression will ever "bust".

What do these do that is beneficial...why would I get these instead of just jacking the car up like I always do?

The rocker panels stick down below the frame and without a puck you have to be very careful with the jack and, depending on how large the head of the jack is, it may be impossible to lift the frame without damaging the rocker.

I also prefer the rectangular, BMW pucks but I would never leave them installed 24/7. If my car ever breaks down I will need to remove the jacking pucks in order for the tow truck to utilize the oval frame slots (to winch the car onto the flatbed). If my car breaks down I'm already PO'd...I don't want to be lying in the rain and mud; alongside a busy, dangerous freeway; in the dark; trying to remove my jacking pucks before the tow truck arrives. I install my jacking pucks as needed and remove them immediately afterwards. I've also heard of someone damaging their car when the jacking pucks scraped-on and got hung-up a speed bump. IMO put them on when you need to and take them off when you're done.
I like the Eckler's because they are thicker to give more clearance and are made of a urathane material which should prevent slipage and is more of a cushion than the other metal pucks.
