I heard back a while, on one of the talk radio shows, that it isn't good for the tank to go below 1/4 (will hurt the engine). I believe it was on the Clark Howard show. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? He even had an engineer on discussing it.
From: Greater Detroit Metro MI, when I'm not travelling.
I wait until it says "LOW FUEL", then I drive another 20 miles and THEN I start looking for a station.
I've gone over 30 after the low fuel warning and never had to put much more than 16gallons in the tank. The gauge is pretty conservative considering the tank holds 18. Of course, you can't siphon it down to zero, but still...
I've been trying out a new credit card issued by Geico, my auto insurance company, that applies "Geico Dollars" to my premium for automotive related charges, similar to other cards that offer cash back. I get 5% of up to $150 per month, and 1% of all other charges.
Normally I don't put that many miles on the Vette, but I find I'm driving and putting more gas in it since I got this card
Usually at about half a tank. Last time I decided to go a little early before prices got any higher. Put in around 1/3 of a tank for around $28. That should get me through most of the summer before I need to fill up again.
