The vette is a time machine... so we are all young behind the wheel... just older for insurance purposes..

Bingo!

Be grateful there aren't more 20 year olds driving this car. I'm 39. Insurance on my 436HP Corvette with full coverage is only a little more than the liability only insurance on my 12 year old 185HP Grand Am. Reason - insurance is largely based on the loss rates for a vehicle which is usually tied to the average/typical driver for a vehicle.

My insurance is quite low as well and everyone can not believe it... maybe that is why... It oly cost me about 600 more a year to add the vette with good full coverage, when I had a truck with liability only before.

We are supposed to believe he has a highly modded 2008 C6, and after the fact he is now asking if he bought an old person's car?

Lighten up.

And don't complain about someone else's spelling if you can't spell. It's grammar, not grammer.

Yes, you did buy an "old person's car." No question about it. It takes lots of experience and maturity to handle all the power this car delivers. Younger people simply don't have the sense of responsibility needed to safely handle the C6.

So, if you think you are too young to be seen in a car like the Corvette, you probably are. Give it a few more years and you may be a better match for the car.

In the meantime, you might want to gain some more experience with a less intimidating, and potentially less dangerous, car. Eventually, you may be ready for the Corvette.

Note: Some younger drivers have reached the skill level needed to drive the Corvette at relatively young ages. This is the exception though, not the rule.

On reading your post my immediate reaction was to roll my eyes and move-on but I say congratulations on your 2008 Corvette and I commend you for being enthusiastic enough to join a Corvette club. What do you want to do with your Vette and what was your motivation for joining the Corvette Club? Is your car a daily driver...will you modify it for appearance and/or performance...are you interested in car shows, competitive events...does your Corvette club sponsor competitive events or is it mostly a social club?

My Corvette Club is not just a social club...they hold autocross events, drag races and the odd oval track event. I don't have much interest in their social events, I joined this particular Corvette club to take advantage of their competitive events. I joined other organizations so I can road race which is my real passion.

I'm in my 50s now and I've learned age is relative. I've known 'old' men in their 30's and 'young' men in their 70's. Through my Corvette club, I met and befriended an 'older' man, a former pro sprint car driver and an avid C6 racer who’s forgotten more about cars than I'll ever know. He's always willing to help others. You might find there’s much to be learned from some of these old guys. I know many old guys that routinely 'humiliate' younger guys on the track...don't write them off just because they're older.

Again, I don't know what you want to do with your car or what you're looking to get out of your Corvette club. If you’re there to pickup women you might be in the wrong place. If, however, you’re there to further your specific interests with your Corvette, meet some great people, learn about your car and how to drive it and have some fun in the process, you might be in the right place.

Good luck with your car, your interests and your perceptions.

Darn, I just checked my driver's license and it turns out I should be driving an age appropriate vehicle:

15-21 = Honda Civic Si (200,000 mi with blue smoke coming from the exhaust.)

22-25 = Scion TC (limo tint and Coffee can exhaust.)

26-32 = Mustang V6 with 20" chromies.

32-42 = Dodge Caravan (complete w/car seats and formula stains).

43-64 = First real car (Corvette, Shelby GT 500, BMW M3, Benz SL, etc.)

65-up = Mercury "Grand Ma." (As stated by the salesman in a ironicly chipper tone, "This will be the last car you'll ever own.)

You're right. I misspelled grammar. How ironic. Sorry about that.

My point is/was that if there was only one thing wrong with the OP's 1st post, it's no big deal. However, when you look at the entire picture, it just doesn't add up (at least not to me).

Have a great day!

Yes, you did, but fortunately old people can afford fast cars like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Corvette!

Our club has lots of seniors and they have the time to keep our club working for those a little younger like myself so I can enjoy other Vette owners company at some nice events
