I'm impressed....I'd be scared as hell to do that to my own house....does that mess up anything with AC electric bills or whatever?
My garage is heated and cooled with the house's centeral system.
The "inverted box" the car rises into is still under roof inside of the attic. It is insulated on the top and sides.
The interior of the box is 3/4" plywood instead of drywall which adds structual strength to whole rebracing of the trusses.
Now I can use the lift to paint it
I just bought a 4 post lift this past summer to fit 5 cars in my garage. I have an area inside to the right where I can park two cars after moving the lift aside using the caster wheels. I had the height but not the depth like you have so I had to add a panel to the top of the door and swap out the 7 foot tracks for 8 foot tracks. That allows the door to be 16 inches higher when in the opened position. Here are some pics from my garage with various cars on the lift.
Yeah ... I know that I need to finish the sheetrocking and get it painted. It is a work in progress!
Thanks!
I have a sawzall I can loan you if you want to expand up
Great idea and job... Have to ask though are they 2X10's or 12's you used for bracing also did you run them to the your walls or do they rest on other truss??? Sorry for being a bit nosey but really am impressed with this idea... I have ten foot walls but would like to give myself little more room...

looks like a pain in the butt when getting the Vette...
I'd just keep the Ford outside so I can get to the Vette without any hassles... Why do you need to garage all of them? it's not like you own ferraris or lambos, its just a ford and chevy...
anyway, a neat little project, but I could not imagine wasting all that time shuffling the cars around every time I want to drive the Vette - F that...

So you did not have to bolt this lift to the floor?
So you did not have to bolt this lift to the floor?
No they do not have to be bolted to the floor especially if you have to move it to get other cars out. They have a 1 ft square base plate on each leg and it is pretty sturdy with a car on it. This one was a bargain at $1,799 delivered and it only took about 4 hours to set it up. I did put a 1/2 inch plate under each leg near the door because my garage floor slopes outward more than most. However, two post lifts do have to be bolted and they want you to have 6 inches of concrete. Now if I can just find the time to finish painting the walls.
