GM Nav Disk Update

To whoever you are, Mr. GM NAV Disc Man. You suck.... .|..

I've never received a post card from GM announcing an update was available. If I hadn't logged onto the web site tonight I wouldn't have learned that those who purchased 2007 models in calendar year 2006 have until December 31 to request their v5 update. After that the upgrade isn't free.
I did not have to wait in a long hold queue and was off the phone within a couple of minutes. A relatively painless procedure. The number, for others who want to call, is 877-628-3472.
Thanks again to all for posting the link to the site and letting us know about the looming deadline for us 2007 Vette owners who bought in 2006!

At least I am now backordered and should have a disc by summer...

If not for this thread, it's likely that I would have missed the deadline for the free update on my 2007 coupe.
The GM Nav Disc web site did not recognize my VIN either. And I, too, ordered over the phone.
Also:
ME: "I understand that the 2009 disc is on back order. However, when does GM imagine shipping this? In a month? In six months?"
GM NAV DISC REP: "The navigation disc provider is now conducting quality assurance tests on these discs, and as soon as this process is completed, discs will be shipped."
ME: "Uh, okay.
= = =
ME: "When I purchased my 2007 coupe in late 2006, I was told that I qualify for two free updates of the nav disc. Today is my first update. Do I still qualify for the second update in future?"
GM NAV DISC REP: "Yes. You will get the newest disc now and in 2009 you can call to get a second update, free."
ME: "So I can call in 12 to 24 months and order yet another disc and this will also be free, as I was promised?"
GM NAV DISC REP: "Yes."
I hope that all of this happens while GM is still around.
After that was safe in hand, I asked her about the wording on the Subscription page. She repeated what I knew the agreement to be regarding two free updates for my 2007 model. I told her I understood that very well, but that's not what the text says on the web page. I asked if they were BUDCO.COM -- an outsourced third party -- or GM. "Yes, we're a third party, but we're GM." Yes, repeat No. I told her about my earlier comment, and that I was annoyed about BUDCO.COM's lackluster response. "I'll make a note of that in your record." Yeah, do that.
So the latest word is a two to three weeks delay. Believe it. Why not?

Just glad to have made the line....

Most of you may have known this already, but after reading some of these posts, I guess I misunderstood and thought the entire free disc program was ending this month.

I'm seriously considering going aftermarket in my next Vette. The $200 cost of upgrades is too high. You can buy a whole brand new after market nav system for the cost of one GM update.
