Hmm, I've got an 07, had to call them to get my first update disk [2008], and now they are asking for $199.00 for the second [2009]. Never recieved a post card from them ever regarding the Nav disk, but I seem to get the catalogs just fine.
Per the web site:

"Subscription GM is pleased to offer a subscription program including all new North American 2006 and 2007 model year GM vehicles (excluding Saab) with factory installed navigation systems. Owners of qualified GM vehicles will receive two (2) free update discs for the navigation system on your first and second anniversary. If your vehicle was purchased in 2006 you have until December 31, 2008 to take advantage of this offer. If your vehicle was purchased in 2007 the offer will expire on December 31, 2009.

To get your subscription disc update, you will receive a postcard mailing shortly before the one-year and two-year anniversaries of the purchase date of your qualifying vehicle purchase or lease. Both disc updates come to you completely free of charge as part of the value of owning a GM vehicle.
"

I've never received a post card from GM announcing an update was available. If I hadn't logged onto the web site tonight I wouldn't have learned that those who purchased 2007 models in calendar year 2006 have until December 31 to request their v5 update. After that the upgrade isn't free.

I ordered 10/26 and it still says backordered.

I don't know about the rest of you folks, but for me the credibility of "QC testing" as the excuse for the delivery delay on v5 disks now ranks below Gov. Blagojevich's popularity.

If there are any GM insiders reading this, I would ask that they tell their BUDCO.com buddies that they'd better start sending out backordered updates before somebody -- and I'm not saying who -- files a consumer complaint with their state Attorney General.

In an attempt to encourage/motivate GM and BUDCO.COM to get off their butts and start fulfilling backordered v5 NAV disk updates, I just submitted the following Comment to GMNAVDISC.COM:
Request a detailed update to the current "BACKORDERED" status of my order. Be advised that, if warranted, I will forward copies of all correspondence in this matter to the Illinois Office of the Attorney General, so an automated acknowledgment of receipt of this request would be seen as unresponsive.

On 12/09/2008 at 3:58PM ZPARKS told me "It may take 2-3 weeks before it ships." Today is three weeks and one day later, and according to the GMNAVDISC.COM web site the status of my order is still "BACKORDERED".

At the present time there are 19 members of the Corvette Forum (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...post1568389805) who report their NAV v5 updates are also in "BACKORDERED" status. Their original orders date back to August 2008. One member who placed his order his four weeks ago received his yesterday.

In his post to the Corvette Forum on 12/09/2008, Unsprung states the GMNAVDISK.COM representative he spoke with told him "The navigation disc provider is now conducting quality assurance tests on these discs, and as soon as this process is completed, discs will be shipped."

In his post on 12/26/2008 CorvetteTrev states he was told "they're testing the disks to ensure proper functionallity." [sic]

It is clear from these postings that both GM and BUDCO.COM (d.b.a. GMNAVDISC.COM) (a) know they can't fulfill current orders, and (b) they are deliberately trying to conceal that fact.

Request full status update NLT Jan 5.

I'm building a consumer complaint case file for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. She's been my pick for pit bull with lipstick since 2002.

It wasn't 4 week. It was 4 DAYS! With the factory down, they should be sending out any production to us. Maybe they are waiting to see if GM pays them or files for bankruptcy.

Eritosthenes, PM me if this ends up requiring more contact info than what is displayed in our profiles. They may want to have real names, VINs, etc. if any legal action is to take place.

You can add me to the list. I placed the order in the beginning of October, 2008. I am also getting the bs about "quality control" testing. How long can it possible take to do this.

Note the correction. If you look at my posts, I did NOT receive my new disks four weeks after I ordered it. I got it within FOUR DAYS. No, I do not have an explanation. (Clean living perhaps?)

A friend of mine has been using Version 3 while waiting for months to receive his free upgrade to Version 5. In the mean time, I burned a copy of Version 4 for him. I figured he waited long enough and this would hold him for awhile. It makes you wonder, how long before these units become obsolete? Could Version 5 be the last release we will ever see?
