GM Nav Disk Update
Per the web site:
"Subscription GM is pleased to offer a subscription program including all new North American 2006 and 2007 model year GM vehicles (excluding Saab) with factory installed navigation systems. Owners of qualified GM vehicles will receive two (2) free update discs for the navigation system on your first and second anniversary. If your vehicle was purchased in 2006 you have until December 31, 2008 to take advantage of this offer. If your vehicle was purchased in 2007 the offer will expire on December 31, 2009.
To get your subscription disc update, you will receive a postcard mailing shortly before the one-year and two-year anniversaries of the purchase date of your qualifying vehicle purchase or lease. Both disc updates come to you completely free of charge as part of the value of owning a GM vehicle. "
I've never received a post card from GM announcing an update was available. If I hadn't logged onto the web site tonight I wouldn't have learned that those who purchased 2007 models in calendar year 2006 have until December 31 to request their v5 update. After that the upgrade isn't free.

I ordered 10/26 and it still says backordered.
If there are any GM insiders reading this, I would ask that they tell their BUDCO.com buddies that they'd better start sending out backordered updates before somebody -- and I'm not saying who -- files a consumer complaint with their state Attorney General.
On 12/09/2008 at 3:58PM ZPARKS told me "It may take 2-3 weeks before it ships." Today is three weeks and one day later, and according to the GMNAVDISC.COM web site the status of my order is still "BACKORDERED".
At the present time there are 19 members of the Corvette Forum (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...post1568389805) who report their NAV v5 updates are also in "BACKORDERED" status. Their original orders date back to August 2008. One member who placed his order his four weeks ago received his yesterday.

In his post to the Corvette Forum on 12/09/2008, Unsprung states the GMNAVDISK.COM representative he spoke with told him "The navigation disc provider is now conducting quality assurance tests on these discs, and as soon as this process is completed, discs will be shipped."
In his post on 12/26/2008 CorvetteTrev states he was told "they're testing the disks to ensure proper functionallity." [sic]
It is clear from these postings that both GM and BUDCO.COM (d.b.a. GMNAVDISC.COM) (a) know they can't fulfill current orders, and (b) they are deliberately trying to conceal that fact.
Request full status update NLT Jan 5.
I'm building a consumer complaint case file for Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. She's been my pick for pit bull with lipstick since 2002.
MONTVALEGOLF: You're right. hehehe.

[/QUOTE]Note the correction. If you look at my posts, I did NOT receive my new disks four weeks after I ordered it. I got it within FOUR DAYS. No, I do not have an explanation. (Clean living perhaps?)
