C6 Comprehensive Fob Programming Instructions
For the fellow who asked about getting a key, please don't take this wrong, but have you removed the bottom part of you r fob? The metal key is contained inside the fob. It is removed by depressing the elongated button near the key loop and pulling on the loop. If you did't get a briefing on the feature when buying the car, it is easy enough to miss that a key is inside.

My old fobs on my 2005 and 2006 had the key totally separate from the fob, and I carried it separate on a key chain. With the new fobs that have the key stored inside the fob, if you can't access the fob you may not be able to access the key either.
So.....window down or, if you have the newer fobs, make sure you take a key out of one of the fobs.

And computers can do strange things, so having the window down is just a good idea, even if the autolock feature is not turned on.

It is fantastic to see how helpful this forum can be!
I was happy to see that many others found this info useful also.

This is the order in which I have attempted the programming, maybe you will recognize something I'm doing incorrectly.
1. Myself and current FOB in car. I turn the car off, roll down window, pop trunk from inside using trunk release button (not fob), then open glove compartment.
2. open car door, leave fob on shifter, get out.
3. fully open trunk, place key from new fob in trunk, turn many times.
4. walk away frustrated and scratching my head having once again not gotten DIC to engage.
The whole time I do this the new FOB is outside of the car. Current FOB left in the car with key still attached. I don't have any cell phones or other wireless devices near the car. I've also tried both shutting the car door after I get out and leaving it open. No luck either way.
And if it turns out that you have to take it in to be fixed, understand that they can use their TECH II machine to force the programming, but what you need to make sure they do is to repair the system so that you can program it as is stated in the manual. The TECH II solution is an easy, fast band-aid approach, they need to fix the car so it works as designed, not throw a band-aid on it.

I just did the long reprogramming. It got to where it said Fob #2. I only have one, so I removed it, pushed the acc button down again & it immediately says no fob & won't start.
Do I have to take it go a GM dealer?

PS...what you did with the programming sounds fine..procedure-wise.
