Just be patient, I looked for a few months then I found one 3 hours from me with everything I wanted. It was a fully loaded 05 with 30k miles on it. I found it on Craigslist from private seller and got price down to 25,500.

They are out there just check all possible avenues and dont be in a rush. My first thoughts were with most here that those 05 were high.

Good Luck

Just to use for comparison...I bought my 05 in Sept. of 2008 its the (1SB) not sure but its fully loaded memory seat, 6 CD, Heated seat Heads Up Display, A4 Perf 3.15 rear, Z51 LMB it had 6000 miles on it & I bought it from a dealer ..I paid $32,500 + tax

I think you can get an 05 for under 30k like I said I paid 32k back in 2008 & my car had only 6000 miles on it..

I bought an LMB 07 Coupe Z51 (gotta love it) 3LT NAV w 12k mi. recently, for $35.5k. You could say it was 2k or so too much, but, it had $2k worth of Corsas, $700 K&N Cold Air Box, , $1k bra and cover, $1k powdercoated black wheels, and a $1k +35kHP chip. Even if I could've traveled to get the car, tack on at least $1000 for that.

I would have bought the wheels, corsas, K&N box, so $3700 new right there. I'll leave the bra and speed chip on the table. So, w/o add-ons I have about $32k, and don't have to go thru the hassle of getting all the stuff installed.

Compare that to the, "Clear Top, 05 Yellow, 1SB, Chrome Z06 Wheels, Z51, Navigation, 22K Miles, $32,998."

There are 07 3LT Z51 Nav 12k or so, out there for about $32-33k, so at about $3k depreciation for every year, I get to about $27k for that car to get it comparable to mine, and you should take $1000 off for the extra 10k miles.

This other one, I pulled off the thread one of the members listed:
2007 3LT Coupe. White / Red leather -Automatic - Clear Top - Navigation - Chrome Wheels - Factory GM Bra - 7,700 miles $33,000 (Not a Z51, but kind of offset by the 15k less miles compared to the one you're looking at).

I'd go into the dealer show him these deals, offer him $26k, and let him take it or leave it. That's more than a fair price in this market.
Lot more sellers than buyers out there. I'm in the institutional financial markets, and trust me, this economy will be soft for some time to come.

Default 8 07's under 15k mi. from Autotrader $32.5-35k

Year miles price

2007 12k $32.5
2007 14.8k 33k
2007 13k 33.6k
2007 8k 34k
2007 4k 34.4k
2007 10k 34.9k
2007 10k 35k
2007 7.8k 35k these were all private party

Range $32.5-35k

These prices are almost on top of the list of 05's glr6 was kind enough to put together:

2005 $29,980
2005 $34,500
2005 $30,885
2005 $31,900
2005 $29,995
2005 $27,900
2005 $32,500
2005 $31,900
2005 $32,900

Range about $30k-33k ish

2006 $29,840
2006 $35,900
2006 $28,298
2006 $33,900
2006 $31,995
2006 $29,988

Range $30k-34k ish

The 05 and 06's might have been dealer cars in them which would be more expensive. You should want to buy it from a private party so you know the history of the car, and can get a read on the person that had the car for 3 to 5 years, how it was taken car of, etc. One look at someone's garage could tell you a lot.

Once the car hits the dealer's lot, you lose all that history, and they don't know squat about the car.

Anyway, with about a $2.5k spread between 05 and 07, I think you have to be nutts to be looking at anything but the 07's.

The newer the model the more cheaper they are because they are closer to the new models that the dealers are selling at deep discounts. The older models are further removed, so can't be compared as easily, thus are on the expensive side. IMO.

BTW- Knock off $1500 on all of these cars, and you'll be closer to the realistic price, since most will come down $1000-2000.

You seem flexible on color, so that should save you a grand or two. I had to have an LMB, saw one within 300 mi. and didn't want to wait 6 mos to get one, had the options I wanted Z51 etc. so I paid what I thought was a fair price, as opposed to beating someone up.

All these cars are priced as if it's a seller's market, but don't believe it, because,...IT'S A BUYER'S MARKET

Is that related to "J0720 - CRANKSHAFT BALANCER REPLACEMENT"?
The last digits of the VIN on one '05 I'm looking at are 111875 . I believe from what I read on an earlier post that would make it production # 11,875.

I would be highly suspicious of ANY used Corvette UNLESS you personally know the car and it's history. Lots of trolls out there taking significantly modded cars and returning them to "stock" and lying about the history. ALWAYS get a GM dealer to print out a vehicle service history and have a solid mechanic inspect the heck out of it.

As to the '05, I have one that has been perfect in the last 3 years that I have owned it BUT there was significant factory service from recalls done before I got it including the early flywheel replacement, radio replacement, and DBS reflash. LOTS of years of C6's have some issues and the '05 is a fine car that most owners have had very great success with. That said, you can always find a cheaper car somewhere. Good luck.

Just for another comparison, I just bought an 05 A4 F55 1SB with Nav, XM, Onstar, one painted top, zero mods (what I wanted) and 50k on the clock for under $23k. The miles are a little higher than most CF'ers seem to like, but I bought it as a daily driver and planned on racking up the mileage anyway, so that didn't bother me. Besides, when comparing that to a lower mileage 05 in the $30k range, I decided the $7k price difference was well worth the extra miles.

Default How many keys/fobs?

So how many keys/fobs should an '05 (or any other year) come with?

I bought my 05 in October of 09 from a dealer in Illinois for $27,500 after a little negotiating It has 12,000 miles on it and the original owner who purchased it from the same dealer traded it in on a Impala. So yes, I did a little homework on the cars background. And the dealer gave me a full 30 day warranty (something your not going to get from a private seller)

I actually was looking for a 05-06 because I wanted the DSOM color. I really love the color and it was available for less then two years from what I have been told! The car looks like it just rolled off the dealers floor!!! I'm very happy with it.

I was surprised to hear all the negative remarks on the 05s when I first found this forum. Thought I may have made a mistake, but since have changed my mind. I love the car and the color! So I guess my point is, It dose not matter the year as long as your happy with the car! And yes, be patient there are some good deals out there.

Hello,

New vehicles will come with two key fobs from the factory. As for used vehicles, that is between you and the seller. Hope this helps.

I have always loved my '05 DSOM, bought new Oct. '04. Daily driver with 24K miles.

Despite ALL the early C6 teething troubles (and more), and despite over 50 shop days in its now extended life!
I could send you a list of my defects, but don't want to scare you!

But I would never own an '05 without an extended warranty. (The only car in my life I ever bought one) In fact, I will buy an extended extension this June.

Where can you get an extended warranty on an '05. I checked with Dennis Fichtner (Fichtner Chevrolet) and he indicated he can't sell a warranty on an '05. '06 and up he can, but not an '05 .

That's bad! Because if he doesn't know, no one does!
I still have one because my coverage has not been interrupted all these years.

I bought my car from an individual, but the local dealer offered to sell an extended warranty (non-GM). I wasn't interested because mine still has 2 years and 30k miles left on the non-GM extended warranty that the previous owner bought. I just had to pay a $50 transfer fee.
