Hmmm, I don't seem to have the same issues. I used to get the occasional motorist slow down to look at my car when I had my old Porsche Speedster, but not so much with the Corvette. Oh, once in a while I get some mouth-breather in his mother's Camry rev up the engine at stop lights, but I suspect we all get that.
My wife though, driving her Mazda 6, seems to have many of the same complaints as you've expressed. Interesting....
Well it happened again to me last night!!! I was driving down I 95 from NH into Mass, again minding my own business. I was in one of the middle lanes doing 70 in a 65 and in my rear view mirror comes storming up on me the little red something.... no idea what it was, but a sporty little asian horse fly. I am the only car on the road, this car is doing at least 85 or 90 up my *** in my lane until its 5 feet off my rear. I notice once again a chick driver. I slow down further and she decides to pass me on my right. It's a 20 something blonde smoking a cigarette, holding a cell phone to her head and driving a Hyundai Tiburon. What a combination, Cell, cigarette and inexperienced driver at 90 mph tailgating! But she just had to catch the Vette and run the bumper.
It's a daily thing up here in New England even in a silver car. The Yellow car it was several times per day.
They are all NUTS!

Reason: addition
Here in Southern California, I drive the 110, and 105 daily, and ocassional trips into Orange County... I have found that the Prius, bimmer and mini van drivers are the most agressive and hostile towards me, and for no reason. As far as tailgating and trying to push me out of my lane, the prius drivers are the worst...
I drive the 110 and 105 all the time. I usually get tailgaited by people in 25 year old junkers who probably don't have insurance and couldn't keep up with me if their life depended on it. I rarely get hassled in West Los Angeles (Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, ect..) but I get tailgated or challenged by other drivers all the time. I just move over and let them pass. There's too many idiots (with guns) in Los Angeles and it's not worth the aggravation. If I'm in a hurry, there's no way they can keep up with me anyhow.... I like to go fast.
Just this morning I mentioned to my wife that while driving home from our Corvette Club meeting last night that I think everybody was either on my *** or trying to race me. Plus, the drive home takes me thru an area where there are constant cops hideing in the weeds. The speed limit is 45 so I mind my own business. These turkeys are driving like maniacs and guess what? No cops. It amazes me how people love to try to pass or race you with all kinds of vehicles...from Audi A4's, Bimmers, to 15 year old raggity *** pickups. Drives me nuts!
I feel like Rodney Dangerfield..."no respect".
The really funny part is that folks here are attributing people's tailgating and other bad driver behavior to being in a Corvette. It really happens whether you are in a Corvette or not. It just may happen a bit more often or be noticed more when you are in your Vette because you are freaked out about it more easily.

I have a young friend, a guy who is 34 years old, rather big guy of 6 foot 4 and has a short fuse temper. Great guy with a nice personality, but he lights off easily.
He had an 07 Black on Black Z06 and was telling me that he too gets the crap on the roads constantly. One day two jerks in a pick up really gave it to him, so he ended up getting pissed and followed them for 20 miles (now I think he is the nutty one). He was right on them until they got back up into the Farmington, NH area which is hard core red neck territory and that should have been the tip off to him to just let it go. But no, he follows them to their home and gets out to 'have a word' with them. What he got was a gun in his face when he walked up to the pick up!! So guess who backed down in the end? I don't care how big and tough you are, a 9mm will always win in the end.
I rest my case, there are far too many loonies out there on the highways and I for one would never carry a gun in a car with me, it's just asking for trouble at some point which you are going to regret.

I notice my yellow vette makes all the other cars around me faster... little crap cars, 20 year old import pickups trailing a stream of burnt oil, heck even white haired grandmas in SUV's want to pass...
or maybe I'm just more conscious of my speed when I'm in my yellow vette...
We all know that yellow is the fastest color seriously the drivers treat me worse when driving my Avalanche...if they start getting close i just speed up a little, not to many Prius owners take there car above 80
I am wondering if this happens to other Vette drivers or if it's a 'local' problem around Northern New England. However quite often I find that people driving behind me when doing nothing other than minding my own business while cruising down the highway, will exhibit a lot of harassing, aggressive behavior; tail-gating, running up fast on me then backing off only to run right back up on me as if they are going to hit me, swerving around at me, you name it. It's not every time I go out in the Vette, but it's far too often and I really don't like it. And it's not limited to male drivers! I had a female in an SUV after me today. What is wrong with these nut cases?
My buddy who had an 07 Z06 said the same crap happened to him all the time and it has been like this with all Vettes I have owned, 68,80,04,07 and the new 2010 GS.
Anyone else seeing this kind of activity while out in the Vette?
Yes , especially if I'm doing the speed limit, and they want to go faster, but do not want to pass. GO FIGURE.
Women is SUV are ridiculous. It's even worse if they start tailing and then making the attempts to pass you when you know they'll never make it when the pass the other cars out in front...
Then, you get the ones that drive pretty slow and get mad when you try to pass. To make it worse, they sometimes try to speed up to keep you from passing them.
That is a real bad generalization. My wife drives a full-size SUV (Yukon XL Denali) because she is safer in that vehicle. People tend to avoid it. My wife was involved in an accident where she would probably have been dead if she was in a small car, instead she was in a Trailblazer EXT that got knocked 50 feet by an old F350. In these days of terrible drivers I make sure my family is in a safe vehicle. About 6000 lbs vs 3000 or so is a big safety factor.
No specific gender/race/age or whoever hold the share of idiots.
If people challenge me to race while I'm in my Vette I just ignore them and yawn. A Vette seems to be their measuring stick. We all hear Vette kill stories including that one idiot with his Viper that got nailed to the wall on his own forum.
I don't get much of that here in my part of Austin. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with location, location, location. Then again there are idiots everywhere.

You will probably have less problems in less populated areas. Less people less problems = less crime.
There are probably about 5-10% ppl that act like azzholes when around ur vette, 5-10% that give you more room and respect, and the rest that don't do anything different. It's likely that the first 5-10% listed are the only ones you notice. IMO, people notice the things that make them mad more than anything.
I am in the Baltimore/Washington DC area and yes, I get the "tailgaters" and "wanna racers" all the time. But, I also get a lot of thumbs up when the top on my silver 05 vert with red interior passes by. I'm not bothered my the nuts though.
I have not had too much difficulity here in Dallas, one reason being that there quite a number of Vettes here. I have had the occasional ricer come up and want to challenge me. But I take solace in he fact that my Vette is probably faster than 98 percent of the cars on the road. So I just laugh and drive off-I don't need to prove anything. Dealing with aggressive drivers coming into your lane and so on; the best way to handle that is just to pull over and let them pass. I also have a nicely restored '57 Chevy that I drive. The reaction I get in that car is different, lots of thumbs up and smiles, no challenges or stupid driving. So my conclusion is that the Vette somehow makes them very insecure so they have to "prove" themselves and/or their car. Some of them hope to goad you into a display of what the Corvette can do. again, I know what it can do, so I just try to ignore them.
