got my first redlight camera ticket in the mail...i dropped my phone and went to grab it and looked up...BOOM red light in the middle of an intersection. So, hopefully the insurance rate doesnt go up, hell it just went down! I've heard camera violations are civil infractions and wont add points but ur insurance company may or may not access that type of info...all depends. my insurance WAS 112/month!!!!!! as a 25yr old 09 coupe owner... may go back to 130-165 like the old days!
also, police in my state dont complain about my vette not having a front plate....ohhhh but the camera lights really make it obvious that they are clearly not there...but its an awesome pic of the front fascia...very sexy. im sure that will cost a few coins

I went through an intersection that had a red light camera when the light was still green, still got a ticket!! Yea, it's is one of those redlight/speed on green cashcow/cameras. My F-car does take a good picture though.
I use a free app on my Android phone called Trapster.
The app alerts you when your getting near red light cameras, speed traps, inspection points, and other sneaky LEO practices. It a comprehensive realtime database of user reports - not perfect but getting better and better. Law enforcement made a statement that they support this technology since the people who use it actually slow down when they get the alert a camera is present
I have my phone connected to my XM receiver (which I no longer use) via audio cable offered by CF member Ray Kawal (website.)

Were you expecting that ticket in the mail? Did you see a flash?
Do you remember running a red light?.
It would seem like you should have got a warning or saw the flash then you would have expected a ticket in the mail?
I got a red light ticket before and I believe it may have said somewhere in the paperwork that no points will be given. I doubt you have anything to worry about the front plate either.

i dropped my phone and went to grab it and looked up.
Please don't do that if you have occasion to drive through middle TN. What's the big deal about waiting until you can pull over to retrieve the phone? Unless, of course, you were in the middle of talking a potential suicide victim down off the top of a building.

I remember looking up like "ohh red" and saw some flashes when I passed through.
I think most states require front and back plates, but its really up to the LEO who pulls u over. my guys here dont care about the front plates if ure in a vette, porsche, or some form of a nice sports car. but if ure in a honda, toyota, or something economical, u better watch out, they'll get you.
I got a warning letter for a red light camera right after it was installed. They gave me a web site to go on and view the video (which I did) that captured the event. Couldn't argue with the letter - they got me!
I'm a bit confused here. Maybe I didn't read the OP right. If the photo shows the front of your car, without plate, how did they track you down in order to mail you the ticket?
I missed something...
However, there may be hope on the horizon, thanks to those wacky characters in Arizona, god bless 'em.
My preference in radar detectors is the V1 with it's arrows, so I bought a Cheetah C100 redlight/speed camera GPS "detector". Mostly for the speed camera issue when we are on road trips.
The C100 seems to work pretty well, they have a newer version with a different model number that I haven't tried.

If they tracked him by a rear plate then they can't prove who was driving. In Utah as long as you are in the intersection before it is red you are good to go. Otherwise you would never be able to turn left in some places.

Good point.
Hate to see someone end up on this video just because they had to grab their cell phone from the floor
Got mine while I was still in Illinois ON A RIGHT TURN ON RED, which was allowed, HOWEVER, I didn't come to a complete stop (it had just turned so the other traffic hadn't moved yet).
I always stop at red lights before I make a right turn, and was convinced that it had to be wrong.
But, when I pulled up the video, there it was, me following the car in front of me as the light turned red.
The governments are so in debt, can't pay the public employees enough in salary and retirement (wished I went to work for the govt back in the 70's), we'll reach the point where they'll be fines for a whole lot of things we can't even imagine right now.
