One got me here in CA, and I knew instantly when I saw the flash. Three weeks later it shows up in the mail. It took both front and rear shots including a mug shot of the driver through the windshield (me). Pretty hard to challenge; and I run no front plate either, but the rear shot was plenty good enough. In addition to the $371 fine, I had to do an on-line safe driving course (more bucks paid) to keep it off my record (needed the completion certificate when I paid the fine). Bottom line, don't try it, you can't win. Big Brother gets you every time.

In AZ, the law is such that if you get flashed for a red light or speeding the municipality sends you the ticket in the mail along with the photo of the license plate and the driver.

If it was not you that was driving, you respond via mail with your license photo and tell them it wasn't you driving. If you cannot recognize from the photo or remember who it was that was actually driving your car at that specific time (which it is virtually impossible to remember something like that) you respond via mail, as such and the ticket is dropped.

If it was you in the photo, driving, then it is the municipality's responsibility to first generate a summons and then serve it to you. If they do not take that action there is no summons and the case goes nowhere.

Thus, only 15% of all red light or speeding photo tickets fines ever get collected here in AZ. Only the folks that voluntarily turn themselves in by responding via mail and admitting guilt, are paying the fines.

There was one idiot here in AZ that thought it would be funny to wear a monkey mask. He got flashed 82 times for speeding, wearing the monkey mask to hide his identity. The police had his address off the license plate number and set up surveillance on him and caught him putting the mask on his face and served the summons. He now owes about $10,000 in fines. What a putz!!

There was a teenager that got flashed 75 times. Her response was that her friends told her they can't collect the fines. What her friends forgot to tell her was that they WILL MAKE a special focus of serving you the summons if you have 75 TICKETS!!!!

Ticket in the mail, was it hand delivered registered and you signed for it, then what ticket. Some of these municipalities are really pulling stunt's to get easy revenue, and it's starting to be a fight. An article in the Latest Car & Driver show's people beating some speeding ticket's and nothing the judge can do about it. Seem's the government has regulation's on setting proper/fair speed limit's to keep traffic propery moving, but some area's artificially keep it down to continue it as money making ticket magnet. Prove this, and you walk. Most people won't go through the bother, but if you've already got a stack of ticket's, probably worth it.

Default Welcome to the Sunshine State

After 5 yrs of similar attempts, the FL Senate took a 30-7 vote to send a red light camera bill to the Gov. He signed off on it effective July 1, 2010.

$158 fine; local gov gets 75 of it. (no points)

btw: speeding by 10mph over will cost you nearly 200 here

enjoy your stay!

i was telling the other dude, that the pics they have here show cars approaching, during, and leaving an intersection. the intersection is so big that there's more than one redlight camera. they all go off.

but the picture i saw, shows the front (u cant see me because the vette is low and its black, and it was dark with mediocre lighting), no front plate so its not there. but all the other photos from the other cameras at different angles, one tagged my rear plates, and the others high angle looking over the entire intersection? its a four lanes all around, lots of cameras, and when i drove by there this morning theres a billion signs that i somehow ignored.

hope that makes sense. but the reason im going to pay the fine anyway is because my new boss at the police department knows that there is only one black c6 and no one ever is allowed to drive it. and i feel that if he gets wind, he'll know without a doubt...then he'll come over and have an integrity talk and the worst shift in the county

here we go,

i looked up all that is redlight camera online an found something that better explains how they got to me without a front plate...i sucked at explaining it

takes four pictures of vehicles that run a red light. The first set of two photos shows the vehicle prior to entering the intersection AFTER the light has already turned red. The second two photos show the vehicles progression through the intersection while the light is red.

Does it really work? If you take a picture of your plate does it show up in the photo?
There is another item called "Veil" which costs like $90.00 a can
Do not know if it works.

I know a fellow that got flashed running thru a yellow light. He got curious, and drove back thru it on green, and got flashed again. Thinking now that the camera must be defective, he tried a third time, again with the same results.

A week later he got three tickets in the mail for not wearing his seatbelt.

Just yesterday I saw someone get rear ended at a red light camera intersection. Don't know if it had anything to do w/ the camera or not, but it LOOKED like the guy in front shut it down pretty hard so as not to go through the intersection. Too bad the guy behind him didn't try as hard . I think the guy in back was trying, but just got too late a start to keep from hitting the front guy.

But, when I pulled up the video, there it was, me following the car in front of me as the light turned red.

The governments are so in debt, can't pay the public employees enough in salary and retirement (wished I went to work for the govt back in the 70's), we'll reach the point where they'll be fines for a whole lot of things we can't even imagine right now.

Fascism rules all govts eventually.

Pensions and unions will destroy states and municipalities just as they destroyed American business. The collapse is without question inevitable and coming a heck of a lot quicker then most expected.

The red light cameras are not only a shameful way of collecting money they are extremely dangerous with many slamming on their brakes in fear of a $100 or more ticket. It is a disgrace how government has exploited technology and it's citizenry.

That is what I was trying to figure out too...and BTW I saw a few of those guys while in Arizona last month, at first I couldn't figure out why they are parked at the side of the highway with a long antenna sticking up.

The government uses this revenue collector scheme claiming it is to the best interests of safety to the public when in reality we know it is just for the $$$$.

Where did you purchase this from? I recall seeing advertisements in the back of Motor Trend or Car N Driver.

just read the state's laws carefully. here in my state, there is supposedly a phrase that says no form of anti-ticketing machinery may be employed by a driver. this means anti-photoradar or anti-radar, or anti-laser, etc. it's in the lawbooks.

Where you are located in Virginia radar/laser detectors are illegal.
I have heard of the above detectors that are suppose to detect where these cameras are but I don't know how good they are. I think they are made by Escort. Ditto for Trapster heard of it but don't know.
