Like others, I think the HUD is the best part of the 3LT package. I wouldn't by another Corvette without it. It's great to be able to monitor speed and RPM while keeping your eyes on the road. You can always add it later but if buying new why not go ahead and get the full package?

Everyone (my non-corvette owning friends) that I have talked to say that they would be annoyed by the HUD if they were driving a car with one. The funny thing is that none of them ever have driven any car with one much less the corvette with a really good one. I wear a pair of polarized sunglasses all the time with my vette and even though I have to brighten up the HUD, I have no problems seeing it. I think it is more the fact that the sunglasses are dark than the polarization. All-in-all the decision to buy a 3lt was a good one. I really like the memory feature just for the ease of egress for my 6' frame. The seat doesn't have to move back much but the fact that the steering wheel automatically retracts out of the way is awesome. Do what you have to do but I'm in favor of the 3lt.

Does anybody here really use the HUD day to day or is it more of a novelty that gets old quickly?

Sure its a nice F-15 touch but possibly a bit over the top?

Reason Im asking is I originally was going with gray wheels but the polished chrome are looking better and better. I can only spend so much.

So is the HUD useful in a non track Vette or am I better off going for the rims?
You have answered your own question. You don't have any use for heated seats, telescopic steering column, and memory settings and the heads-up display is a novelty item in a car with a high mounted dash-board rather than a bubble canopy like an F-15.

Dont forget, 3LT also gets ya the Universal Home Remote! Use mine for the garage door, and Mild2Wild.

Get the wheels you want, as you already stated you do not need the other 3lt options. As for the HUD I drove an XLR with it, found it to be a nice little novelty but who needs it. Well those who have it of course, really for the money to me not worth it.

when I was searching for a Corvette I had a minimum 3LT requirement.

It gets pretty chilly here, so the heated seats were needed. The HUD is sweet, particularly since the normal instrument cluster is so low. Memory seats weren't really necessary since I'm the only driver, but it makes you feel pretty special when the seats & mirrors move you into position

Love the entire package. Memory seats are great when exiting/entering car, then setting driver position. Heated seats very nice when temps get around 50. HUD keeps your attention on the road; you won't know you like/need it until you get it. You can change the wheels any time. Go with the 3LT, INMO.

So when you open door seat slides back for easier exit?

Jay, I see you are getting closer and closer. I have the Lt3, I'm the only driver so I don't use all the features. Don't use: Heated seated( makes me feel like I just peeed in my pants),Telescoping wheel(stays forward). Power seats( I set the seat as far back and as far down as it allows and there it stays at the non-power default position). Bose( not sure what the other speakers sound like). Balance of the memory package( once set it generally stays there, except for passengers side, side view mirror. When I parallel park, I set the mirror all the way down so I can see the curb and prevent curb rash, only a hit of the button ) Do use: HUD, and I love it, (can keep my eyes on the road and not have to look down to see how fast I'm going). Universal home remote (every day/twice a day) Good Luck and Have Fun.

Here you go, if you want HUD without the other 3LT stuff this guy will install the HUD unit in your car for $650. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-p...-fl-650-a.html

You sound as if you have the funds: "farm paid for" Dr. in your name?? The HUD is a no brainer, get it! As for me, I have a 3LT and wish I had a 4LT.
If you are up in age you will enjoy all of the nice little extras of a 3 or 4LT. As for your friends..hey, it is your money. Go for the best..but HUD is must. Even shows you the radio or XM stations as you change them and a lot more....if you do not have to, don't be cheap!

I went 3LT and use all the options.
But, If I had only one choice for an option, it would be HUD.

You really notice how nice the HUD is when you drive a vehicle that doesn't have it.

You probably figured by now that the HUD's the best invention after sliced bread. I've got it but don't think I'll miss it.

When I was looking, the HUD was one thing I really wanted. The other 3LT stuff seemed like fluff. Now that I have it I use it all. Even in South Texas, I use the heated seats sometimes, and the memory package helps exiting and entering (64 yr old hips). I find the steering wheel controls are not very useful, and the garage remote has limited range, but I really enjoy the HUD. Having the tach in front of you helps with shifting points. I'm not a racer, and have a tin ear, but it helps to shift before you hit the rev limiter. You can add one on later, but probably would not want to tear into a new car.

its only a gimmick if you dont have it!!!!

I LOVE the HUD its my fav thing ever!!!

And it has some functionality i didnt even know about going into it... for example EVERYTHING is ported through it...

examples:
Radio station (when i change them it tells me in the HUD what that station is. Also the name of the song on the cd or ipod)
directionals: shows you the blinkers (today i left the blinker on and forget but saw it in the HUD)
NAV!!!(NAV DIRECTIONS AND STREET NAMES ARE PORTED THROUGH IT) that was AWESOME i had no idea it does that even a little mileage bar countdown ... helped a LOT since i picked up my vette in mississippi and it was a long trip home to NJ !!
HUD also give you an upshift symbol if you are almost at redline

and whats more I see my HUD FINE with sunglasses on every day... full mirrored oakleys. (there is a rocker to adjust the brightness btw thats probably why you didnt see it) that and it auto dims when the lights are on for night time.

heated seats was next.. i THOUGHT i didnt need it.... but once i have it its REALLY nice

memory seats/telescoping wheel meh.... i could live without i guess but nice to have
