This Saturday I was pulled over and given a ticket for 94 in a 60. The officer said he paced me but I find that hard to believe.
First, he is a traffic officer and has K, Ka, and probably Laser (my radar, 9500 ix, never went off) Second, he said he was following me for almost 10 miles. Last, it wasn't until I slowed down for over a minute that he finally pulled me over.
I am always aware of my surroundings and cops when driving. If the officer was pacing me (which I assume means behind me within 100 yards) why did it take him 10 miles of me driving over 90mph for him to finally decide to pull me over? Wouldn't you think that any officer would want to pull a car over traveling that speed as soon as possible, you know cause of other drivers safety?
In my opinion, I think the officer is full of Sht and I will be having my lawyer fight this one.
I use to do this all the time the spedo's in most police cars are calibrated to be used for traffic citations. This is not at all uncommon and I say you should always get a lawyer, but back in the day I wrote most of my tickets this way.
Pacing is very common and generally done in your blind spot. Funny in your post you never say "I know I wasn't going 90, I was only going ____". Sounds to me like you got busted and just hate that you did.

yuuup. It's not uncommon for cruisers to sit in the 4 lane and watch you in the 1 lane, then quickly zip over behind you and turn on their lights.
Bummer dude .. sorry =(
P.s. unless your lawyer is on retainer, it's probably not worth it to pay him to fight it, you can do most of it yourself. (unless maybe he can show up for you so you don't even have to go to the courthouse?)

I know it can be used just never got a ticket from such.
My question is, if the officer paced me going such a speed why did he allow me to drive for 10 more miles? Did he just feel like going fast too? I find it hard to believe the an office would allow such a speed for so long, especially since he said he was behind me the whole time. It doesn't make since.
I'm sure you would want to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed as soon as possible. Not allow him to continue and possible cause an accident.
You do not say how fast you were going, but you are fortunate he did not hit you with reckless driving as well. Not sure what the laws are in your State.
In any case I would do as you plan, get a Lawyer see what he/she says and go from there. Most of the time they will plea bargain it down to another charge. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I understand your point as to why he did not stop such a reckless act immediatly , but follow you for 10 miles and let it continue. He may of held back , hoping you would cross over the 100 mph mark , increasing the points and fine. All in the name of safety..
