I'm just glad you lived to post your story here! Its really sad that we live in a world where someone would kill you over $20 and we have our legal system to thank for it. If the laws were tougher and they would take these thugs off the street instead of slapping their hand and letting them go it might not happen as often. Even worse when we would act and defend ourselves and get locked up for it, but that is a risk I would be willing to take!
Yes, by all means, do not discuss guns in a thread where the OP was robbed at gunpoint.
That little 380 is nice for scaring off menacing stray dogs, but if my life were at stake, I'd be carrying a compact 45ACP Sig or a compact Ruger SP101 357.
I'm no LEO, but if I were I robber (I'm not one of those either, ha ha), I'd want to stay away from the guy I robbed, not go back to the victim to give him another chance to point me out to cops (or shoot me, as they like to do in Texas). Any LEO's in here think the OP is really at risk of these nogoodniks coming to his home?
Glad you are OK, OP. Wallets are replaceable, lives are not.
Remember that robbers aren't the brightest people around. They typically hit the same type of establishment over and over, or work the same neighborhood over and over, or even come back and rob the same person/establishment/house. The only qualification to be a criminal is to be stupid. Don't you ever look at their mug shots on the nightly news? Do they look even half-witted?
ARE YOU KIDDING? I worked 3 years super max seg and 2 years doing executions while I got my college degree. I don't care if it is a 10 year old child, if I think my life is in danger I am going to use deadly force to protect myself. As for the weapon I don't care what it is, if you are proficient with it you will get the job done. Because of people like me there are far fewer robberies in the Houston area.
Any and all acts of aggression shall be dealt with swiftly. As for a robber's and theft's life, IMO they have NO value. In these times you must ALWAYS practice OPSEC. When I walk around I always see people walking while texting or do something else instead of paying attention to their surroundings. These people are soft targets and bad things will come their way. Bad people like easy money. The main thing is that the OP is alive and well.

I do not want to keep jacking the OP's thread with talk of Guns of Ballistics but you have no idea of what you speak. Yes a .45 is a larger caliber weapon then a .380 but the load you shoot and your ability with a weapon are more important important.

When I worked as a correctional officer i talked with inmates all the time and I asked what they look for in a victim and they are just like lions. They look for the old, weak, not paying attention, young, women, scared, etc. When you walk out into a parking lot you should have your head up looking around, MAKE EYE contact, look in your vehicle before you get in it, notice what is parked around it. A big panel van next to your car should raise a warning flag in your brain. Listen to your own instincts, if you feel something is wrong it probably is. When is the last time you paid any attention to the car behind you, are you being followed to your house? When you take your car in for work do you remove your house key, garage door opener? I have two brothers and a sister who are in law enforcement and they will tell you the same things. Police cant be every where so make your personal safety a priority.
That's a cute little pistol. But remember, it's a "gut" gun. You need to be within 3 feet of the bum to hit him. After that, the bullets just fly. And are you prepared to take a life over a wallet?
If he is robbing you at gunpoint how do you know he's not going to kill you anyway? So it's more of, do i shoot him before he has the chance to kill me, and the wallet is out of the equation.

The OP asked about FOBs, not gun selection. Had he asked about gun selection I would have mentioned this:
Do you have a spare FOB? IF so, immediately do the "Long Method" and reprogram the FOB. That will totally eliminate your stolen FOB from communicating with your car. If you do NOT have a spare, BUY ONE and then do the reprogramming. When you do the long method, the 1st FOB you put in the slot becomes the #1 FOB no matter WHAT the case lettering on the FOB says. You can add a FOB with the short method later if you need a #2 FOB.

You don't know what you're talking about with the accuracy of the Ruger LCP, or nearly any small handgun these days.
Anyone who can shoot a large pistol reasonably well can put all the small pistol's shots into your chest at 15 yards with no problem. Some of us would have no problem doing it at 25.
The bigger problem though is not the accuracy of lethality of the pistol but whether one is skilled enough to draw and fire and disable someone who is already holding a gun on you.
Unfortunately the Corvette is an attention getting magnet for thugs and the like.
That's why I now have a Virginia Concealed Carry Permit which has reciprocal recognition in most southern/mid-west states...
SO how would this help? They surprise you with a gun to your head..what? You reach for your gun. BANG your dead, NICE!

Sir,
Are you saying that he should not try to take responsibility in his personal safety. I know that bad things can happen at any time, but if you practice OPSEC, you can greatly minimize the effect.

Gering I think we share the same type of feelings on this issue. If the guy has a gun to my head and ask for my wallet I am going to give it to him along with the keys, BUT the second he lowered his gun to leave I would lite him up with six center mass.

Having a gun at your face or head is no fun at all. Been thru that a few times for one reason or another.Just buy a new fob,get it programmed and the other one will be useless.

Read what he said again. He's exactly right. Guns can get you killed just as easily as they can save your life. He never said anything about taking responsibility for for your owns safety, he said if the guy walks up and has a gun pointed at you it's too late to go for your gun. If you do, you are putting the odds of getting shot much higher than if you just do what he asks you to do.
