Sorry, it did not say take delivery from inventory. It was an incentive to existing Corvette owners and the intent was to sell more cars. If GM intended it to apply only to dealer inventory, they should have stated this in the offer - they have enough attorneys on staff to know how to write an offer.
All it said was had to take delivery by 10/31. On 9-12-11, the dealer, Ken Fichtner, sent me an e-mail stating "I did successfully validate your Certificate for $3,000".
If GM does not honor the additional $3,000, I simply will not complete the purchase and will never buy another. This is after having purchased a new Corvette every few years since 1978.
Imo just because the certificate was validated doesn't put GM on the hook. They simply verified your eligibility for the incentive.... They had no knowledge of your order specific to you. I do however agree with you concerning the expectation of the incentive being honored by someone. I ordered the car with the incentive promised.had I placed an order randomly I would not feel entitled to anything and would have hoped for the best. The plant shutdown has nothing to do with this... My TPW was assigned two plus weeks ago. It should have been apparent at that time that delivery/invoicing before 10/31 was going to be an issue. If the deal is no longer available when my car is ready then so be it, but I will not feel obligated to pay more than agreed upon because of an over ambitious offer falling apart.
Here's another data point:
I ordered on 9/10 and had an early TPW of 10/10 that was changed to 10/24 a few weeks ago. I'm at code 3400 now for my 2012 supersonic blue GS and am learning about patience (not patients).
Does anybody have a TPW of 10/17 and/or does anyone know if the line opened back up this week?
It’s unfortunately the nature of the market these days, but these factory shutdowns really put a damper on the whole “Corvette Experience”.
I wanted to order my 2012 Centennial and do the buyer's tour, museum delivery, etc, you know, the “Corvette Experience” that GM’s created over the years. But I’ve seen the frustration in these types of threads in the recent past and I decided not to subject myself to the inevitable aggravation that comes with production uncertainty.
So, I scoured dealer stock and found exactly what I would have ordered, sans the “Experience” mind you, but I think I made the right decision.
I write this just in case anyone is in the same boat reading this thread and contemplating what to do. Sometimes you just have to take the path of least resistance.

My decision to order was based on the offer that was made and the lack of a white/red comp gray Z06 on the ground.
Reading this post has me worried as well. I had planned on ordering the first week of Dec to do the museum delivery on my Birthday, March 2. Kerbeck advised me to the first week of Dec planning that, at least for one week, there will be a shut down in Dec. Do you guys think I should look into placing the order early?
I don't want the car to not be ready for my Birthday, however I do not want to burden the museum with my car for weeks if the car would finish early in Feb.

I would contact Gary at the museum and discuss your plan with him. I know on the museums site it states that they will hold a car for two weeks. After that it becomes the selling dealers responsibility to deliver the car.

I would contact the museum and see what they say about the length of time they will hold the car. You can also talk to them about your concern and see what they recommend and go from there.
I would order the car as soon as possible based on what they say. The museum will take good care of it and they give it a very thorough PDI and will work directly with the factory to fix any issues. They also give it a pretty good detail job as well.
I hope everybody realizes that the reason GM put an incentive out there was that there was to many left overs on the lots. That's why they were trying to move Vettes off the lots with the incentive.

Thanks for pointing that out. I ordered due to a dealer offering the incentive on ordered cars by a specific date. If he can't follow through on the deal I will move along and the car can go into his inventory. It does seem to me that GM should inform their dealers of production shutdowns well before the fact.
Let the waiting games begin.... 13 days at 3000? $4,500 is essentially at risk from the $1,500 dealer cash and $3,000 Corvette Owner Rebate.
09/30/2011 (1100) Order placed at dealership. Order passed GM edit tables but dealer has not received allocation to place order.
10/03/2011 (2000) Order accepted by GM. Dealer used allocation to place order into production.
10/04/2011 (2500) Order preferenced. Order pulled to the production system.
10/05/2011 (3000) Order accepted by production control. Parts being ordered and production process is underway.

I hate to be a buzzkill but..... You got no chance of being invoiced by the 31st. You need to hope for an extension of the current offer or a new offer of similar value.
I'm at 3300 and will be in trim on the 27th and completed the 31st. Sequence no. 5293

I understand that. Should have prefaced my post with "unless the offers are extended, $4,500 is at stake". In no way to I think it will be produced before the 31st. I believe the date is 11/07 as of now.

There are 1,220 leftover Corvettes sitting as of today. Out of 13,000+ built that doesn't seem like too many.
Well I ordered my 2012 the day that cyber gray became available in mid September hoping that I would be able to take advantage of the incentives. I was susposed to get mine(target) the week of the 31st and now I'm pushed out to Nov 7th due to the factory shut down. Oh and I'm sure its still sliding.
After I made my order and noticed that the status was not moving, thanks to the great website of connects GM! I called GM cusotmer service to see why my car was not progressing through the factory. They informed me that they talked to the factory and my car was being built and that they had no target production date. Now when I look at my codes, I'm only at code 3000. Oh and not to mention the factory has been closed, so whom was the representative talking to? Im not for sure the right personell were there at the time.
That being said, I have had allot of mis leading information from customer support. The first time I called them to veriy the loyalty GM incentive, they told me that a 2009 corvette owner did not qualify for the incentive.
So what I have learned so far is that the great forum supporters here usually have the latest and greatest information for these type of situations. So to be honest, I think its just best to wait on an update from Kerbeck or other supports on this situation to see what GM is going to do. At that time its just simple for me.... If its not extended I'm just going to have to look at the other deals that I had on the table when I ordered my vehicle and it can go to dealer stock for some one else that has chimmed in to go to the dealer stock that is not in this situation.

All cars built are sold orders. However, GM can distinguish between sold to dealer and sold to customer. When there is a scheduled closure they usually put a priority on building "sold to customer" orders first. At least that is what I was told when I was in the same boat the last time I ordered from the factory.
They have been closing the plant for weeks at a time for a long time now. The reasons for closing have varied from low production to retooling the lines. Last year they closed down sometime in November and did not reopen until 1/3, give or take a couple days.
I always do my best to locate the car with the specs I want from dealer inventory somewhere. Dealing with the factory delays is too frustrating.
The rebates usually have a clause that states you must take delivery on or before a certain date. However, I believe GM will end up honoring any rebates offered at the time you placed the order for your car.
That may be once in a Blue Moon.
Well this goes back a few years but GM offered .09% interest and I ordered a GMC truck. My truck was finished and sitting waiting for them to ship it when they went on strike. Two months later I finally got delivery of the truck and GM would not honor the financing. I ended up @ 8.9%.They gave us all a Loyal Customer $500.00. I complained -wrote letters etc and they gave me a token two free oil changes which I sent back to them. I made one payment and paid the loan off. I would not have ordered the truck if it hadn't been for the low interest. But I had already made a commitment to sell my other truck.
Well I'm at 3300 this morning, so it looks like things are moving again. I'm hoping that a bunch of our cars go through at the same time. That would be really cool.
