Default Mobil 1 all marketing hype!

Mobil 1 in my experience cant compare to true synthetics like redline, lucas and amsoil! I wish the'd quite brainwashing the general public into thinking its straight from heaven and from the gods! But then again just my opinion! Ive been using royal purple and see a difference in idle smoothness when i switched in all 3 cars!

Must be some reason why GM put Mobil 1 in all the new Corvettes.

Talk about drinking the Coolaide.

Look, you put whatever you want in your cars. I'll put what I want in mine. I've seen the data on the Mobil 1 and frankly, I'd put it put against any of the "boutique" oils.

Mobil 1 is fully derived from dino stock base stock ! All except the 0w-30 blend european formula. It is derived from polyalephins [spelling not correct] Redline and other are also derived from PAL's

Even Nissan only recomends 0w30 mobil 1 because it can handle the heat where other mobil 1 grades can't

What exactly in your experience tells you this? Do you think this is case no matter how the car is used (i.e. normal road used vs. track)?

Thanks for the link. I knew that info was out there somewhere and hadn't found it.

For the Mobil1 lovers, your choice in oils is fine, nothing really wrong with Mobil1, but if you want the BEST oil in your car, you need to research some of the other brands. There are oils that are just as good, if not better, and in a few cases, maybe even cheaper than mobil1. YMMV.

It is common knowledge that in Europe the mobil 1 we use here is not even allowed to advertize it is synthetic! It does not even meet warranty requirements for many cars here and in europe! That alone tells me REDLINE [which does meet those requirements is better choice!] or 0w30 european formula which is true group 1V synthetic.
Cant see why 0w 30 european formula or redline or others wouldn't be a better all around choice for our cars

Hogwash. GM is offering 100k power train warranties on cars running Mobil 1 Oil without even blinking. Is there better oil? Does it matter? It lubricates a GM engine just fine. If there's any hype i usually see it coming the other direction with someone screaming oil XYZ is better blah blah like my car is going to fall apart if i don't switch.

GM is backing their belief with a 100K mile warranty. That's good enough for me. Lets see you get oil brand X to pay for any engine trouble you may have.

Step back from the pipe or stick to Subooboo'

Your link proved nothing

See Mobil's site - FULLY synthetic

http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/...l_1_5w-30.aspx

"Mobil 1 5W-30 is an advanced full synthetic motor oil designed to keep your engine running like new by providing exceptional wear protection, cleaning power and overall performance. It meets the demanding ILSAC GF-5 performance standards."

PRODUCT
Product Name: MOBIL 1 5W-30
Product Description: Synthetic Base Stocks and Additives
Product Code: 481119-00, 970056
Intended Use: Engine oil

http://www.smartsynthetics.com/amsoi...-basestock.htm

"Group IV -Chemical Reactions: Group IV base oils are chemically engineered synthetic base stocks. Polyalphaolefins (PAO's) synthetics, when combined with additives, offer excellent performance over a wide range of lubricating properties. They have very stable chemical compositions and highly uniform molecular chains. Group IV base oils are becoming more common in synthetic and synthetic-blend products for automotive and industrial applications. The future belongs to the Group IV basestocks (AMSOIL Synthetic Oils are Group IV Polyalphaolefins). "

So much for Amsoil

Do your research

I am going to use whatever Chevy says to use. If something happens to the motor that is oil related then its there fault not mine, and you know they will look for an out in a major problem.

and if your car idles different because you switched to a different oil..then you have more than an oil problem, I cant see how oil could effect the idle or idle progaming...

if Chevy tells me to use chicken fat..thats what I will use.

oh, YOUR experience? Exactly when did it fail for you and what was the problem? I've been using it since at least 2000 and have had zero problems from or withnthe oil... In fact I know of know one who has had any problems..

Are you trolling?
