While I voted for the A6, my heart is with the M6. But the current Corvette C6 A6 needs to improve more before I can say it's a replacement for the M6.
BTW the SMG A6 in my wife's 2008 Jaguar XK would be a good start for the Corvette.

I am in my fifties, did not know i was a senior, wife is late forties. Our last c6 was a 6 speed manual, we opted for a six speed auto this time. We like both but i must say that i kept trying to find the clutch for the first month on the auto, lol.

M6, no other way to go for me, traffic, or whatever did not buy the Vette for the times in traffic got it for the good times not in traffic. For me that means a M6.

M6 05 and I'm 72. When I was 19 I had a 55 Ford. Converted it to stick for about $50. Mostly junk yards parts and a new clutch and pressure plate. Hardest part was finding a pilot bearing. Try doing that today for 50 bucks!!

We have one of each, but the manual is what I primarily drive and vastly prefer. The automatic is mainly driven by my wife and daughter. I like the auto, but I find the manual to be a lot more fun.

Good Lord I never thought being 55 meant you were a "senior." Some just prefer an automatic...some commute in bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours each day...some have medical maladies that necessitate an automatic...some drive the hills of San Francisco daily and some are just fuddy-duddies (said in-jest).
I race my car and I can't think of any serious Corvette racers that have an automatic transmission. Until such time as Corvette has a truly responsive paddle-shift, I prefer the precision and control afforded by the manual transmission.

Age 66. Have an 07 A6.
The A6 in sport mode can choose the right gear way better than I can. I don't drag race, autocross or do track days. My spirited driving is limited to winding two lane blacktop, so the A6 is perfect for my needs. The paddle shift works great for me when I want to take over the shifting myself.
(Note that I drove manuals exclusively until age 32.)

I just turned 72 and still drive a stick C6. If I did drag race (gave that up when I was no longer a teen), I wouldn't see the sport in using an automatic, it's like shooting animals on a game preserve. To me a sports car isn't a sports car with an automatic, and if I lived in an area where traffic demands an auto tranny, I would certainly leave my manual transmission sports car at home and drive something else, like my wifes Mustang. The best thing you can do to prevent physical maladies, or to repair them, is to excercise; use it or loose it! For those that are intimidated by a manual transmission; it's never too late to learn. For those with a wife who tells you what kind of car to buy; it's never too late to man-up.
