Sorry. But I don't really see all that much wrong with it. The lot is almost completely empty. There are no other cars around. He wants to protect his car. He takes the time to park out away from everyone and everything. So, what does it hurt? Now if he had done it up close to the door, I'd say yes. But, he chose to park out away from everyone.............. I do the same thing only not with four spaces. But I usually take up two and park at an angle. If I park way out away from everyone, what difference does it make in an empty car lot? Wanna know what's worse than this? Parking way out away from everyone to protect your car and having someone squeeze in next to you when they have the whole parking lot to park in. Then THEY should get their car keyed. Other than that, I don't have a problem with it.............. And I'll bet I'm not the only one on this board that parks out away from everyone and takes up two spaces. In fact: Wasn't there a post on here not too long ago where someone parked their Vette and had someone squeeze in next to him and he complained about it? Sorry, but I'd rather people call me an A-HOLE than have a dent in my car door. "Sticks and stones will break my bones.......and door bangers will ALWAYS hurt me!"..........

no one should ever get their car keyed. ever. no matter how much of a jackass they are. or how many spots they take.
that being said, people still have no respect. this includes the people who key cars AND the people who take up multiple spots. good luck but i think the dude in the pic and you are both asking for problems. go ahead and not see the big deal with it until you get some unwanted attention. dont say we didnt warn you. good luck
It's a bluff .... Will you stay to tell him off or Will he want you to get close enough to show
you just what a trouble maker he can be . Like the Vette in a packed beach lot with the top down . No one touches it ...... Anyone with guts to leave it for hours , may just grind your face in the pavement . Bluff ...
Since the original poster is from Texas, I'll assume that may be a Texas car. A front plate is required in Texas, but what confuses me is 2 stickers are required on the drivers side windshield. I only see one. Wonder what up with that?

Sorry you feel that way. But I've been taking up two spaces far out in the lot for 50 years and I haven't had any cars keyed once. And I don't remember getting any door dents either. I HAVE had damage done to my vehicles parking normally over the years, though. In fact I parked at an angle twice yesterday in two different empty lots- once in a church and once at the grocery. Both times in my Impala. And no one was within 20 spaces of me........... And I also disagree with you about people squeezing in just so they can intentionally damage a car. When someone parks far out in an empty lot- far away from everyone and another person goes out of their way just so they can squeeze in and damage that car, THEY are the ones asking for trouble. So, if you are the one who likes to damage people's cars. Sorry about your luck if you get yourself into trouble. And don't forget, their are cameras in most parking lots now days. So, if you go out into a lot so you can intentionally open your door into someone's car, you can expect to pay the damage.............. Besides, people around here have been parking out away from people forever and taking up two places. As long as they do it out away from everyone and far from the door- people don't mind. I see it every day. Good luck.

It isn't just Corvettes. Far and few. Most of the time I see alot of these other jalopies doing this. It's like putting a Club on a Toyota Tercel. We see it all the time.
Nothing screams jerkoff more than that. I mean four spaces? Really? It doesn't matter whether the lot is full or not. It's just plain ignorant. Now this idiot will be on here next week whining that his car got vandalized but will conveniently omit what caused it.

Would you guys have had a problem if the car in the back had backed in and taken up two spaces but not parked at an angle?
Absolutely not. Like I said before- four spaces is a bit excessive. But in an open parking lot with no cars and if you park way out away from anyone else, I see nothing wrong with it and I do it all the time. Probably, every time I go somewhere. And if I don't take up two spaces, I park so far out that I know that by the time I get back out, my car will still be sitting by itself with no one parking next to it. Anyone who parks up close to the door and squeezes in betwen two parked cars is the one who is asking for problems. And if they are in a Corvette, people are really going to give their door an extra hard swing to damage it.

The one sticker looks like his inspection. If he recently bought the car, it sometimes takes up to a month to get your registration sticker & plates. That may be why there is no front plate & probably why he chose to park that way. Still no excuse.
And one last thing, if any of you are ever in/near Cincinnati, there is a restaurant called Quaker Steak on Colerain Avenue. It is a "car type" restaurant with car pictures on the walls, race cars hanging from the ceiling, car parts everywhere, etc. all over the place. On the third Thursday of the month, guys with their classics/hot rods meet there for lunch around noon. Last Thursday, I went there and guys drove old Corvettes, 56 Chevys, new Corvettes, old trucks, etc. and they all parked several parking spaces apart. People went out and looked at all the cars and none of them were damaged................And on the first Wednesday of the month, our Corvette meets at a restaurant and has supper and we have our monthly meeting. We all drive our Corvettes and park way out in the last row in the parking lot together. We take up plenty of room so we don't bang each other's doors. (Not FOUR spaces, but usually more than one). People go by and look at our cars- last month there were people taking pictures of them. I've been a member for over two years and I've never heard of anyone's car getting damaged doing this. Nuff said. So, if you don't mind, I'll continue to park out away from everyone in an empty/near empty lot and walking the extra difference to protect my car. And it's fine with me if you do it too. Good luck.

cool story.
you're still the minority, no matter how justified you think you are

Taking extra spots was tolerated 20 years ago, but it's becoming much less, because many stores don't have enough parking to begin with.
Twice in the past year I've heard paging over the store intercom for the car owner (one was a vette) to IMMEDIATELY move their car into one parking spot, or they would be towed, and they both got towed.
My vettes are daily drivers, and I park it in one spot like everyone else does in the lot, and so far, no issues, just a lot of complements about the car.

Obviously, you didn't read and understand my post. It's right there in front of you. I said "if you parked out away from everyone and there was no one else around and the lot was pretty much empty. (Like the one in the OP posted.) " Then you said, "many stores don't have enough parking to begin with." So you are arguing about nothing. I agreed with you to begin with. And seeing as though you are from Florida, I just got back from St. Pete and I saw several cars parked out away from people. Some were Corvettes. Maybe not using extra parking places all the time, but they obviously felt the same way I did by parking out away from other people to protect their cars. And I took pictures of them because they were Corvettes.
