I am getting a single disc to replace my 2 disc set. I believe the one disc will work on my 2010 GS?????--any advice. cutnout aka Charlie

The MotionX-GPS-Drive Navigation app is great! The basic app is $ .99 cents. If you want the live voice guidance it's like $10 annually. It's current, there are real time traffic updates, etc. It does everything well. You can even port it into your in-car nav screen.

 

Yep, its a real Annie. I bought a new GS vert in 2010 and dont remember how to change the avatar--however our son has the Annie in Phoenix.
I still wonder if the single disc change has worked in 2 disc cars.

You will be fine with a 2012 single disc in a 2010 Grand Sport.

 

I paid $149.00 for my 2012 disc for my 07 when they had it on sale but was it worth it, no in my case it was not. We had new roads finished and Bobby Jones Expressway (I-520) from Augusta, GA into South Carolina completed in 09, but on the new disc its not updated. The good about the new disc is take only one.

 

You bet. A $1,800 option should be MUCH better than this. Like I said before the only reason I bought the GM Nav was it displays on the HUD.

 

It is to late for me. I put the disk in and it updated the system . now my cd player is acting up- skips , plays the same song over and over . Only sees 2 or 3 songs on the cd. Is there a fix for this ?

 

Does anyone know if there is a cut off year for a 2012 disk? My 2009 works fine with the 2012 disk and it does not affect the cd player or mp3 player. How about 2012 disk in a 06, 07 ,& 08?

Commercial CDs, home made CDs, or MP3s? If the former, you have a problem. If homemade, do them again maybe with a higher quality blank disc. If the latter, do a search for how to make MP3s that work in all models. That issue involves mostly name lengths and VBR.

 

You should try making a copy of the disc and using that in the car...frequently this can make a difference when the unit is spending excess time seeking on the disc. It is a simple double layer DVD with no copy protection. I like Verbatim DVD-R DL discs the best. DL discs can be more finicky than regular single layer.

I think what he was trying to say was "Nav" not 'mac' and Flag is a Chevrolet dealer in Canada.

They are homemade and all formats have problems playing. They play last summer no problem.Thanks for all the input.

 

This if from the offical GM Disk site. I put in your car and it says you can use the 2012 disk or any Vette Nav Disk in your 05. They don't go below 09 b/c I don't think people want to update any lower.

I don't think the disk updates the system. It only has streets & points of intrest etc on it. I put the 2012 in my 09 and it just recognized new roads and road changes. I put the 09 disk back in and it worked just as it did before I tried the 2012. I think you have other problems as I tried changing disks many times and there was never a problem. I am now running the 2012 disk in my 09 and it's perfect. The disk did not update the system. The same old saved addresses and saved previous destinations are the same. It really isn't software upgrade just updated hardward. Good luck.

 

I don't know if anyone suggested you disconnect the neg terminal of battery for a moment. My nav-radio would freeze up sometimes till I learned to bun MP3s properly for this unit. The worst that will happen is you have to index the windows. If you're really fast & just break the circuit a mili second you won't have to even index the windows. Just plan on doing it though. Always carry a 10MM wrench for the battery terminals. Let us know how you make out.

 

Installed the 2012 disk in my 08 and works fine. No software update.
