Great info, thanks.

I know how you feel. We bought an 06 Monterey red coupe in feb,we had it about 2weeks and went back to get the plates at the dealer on the other side of town. On the way back we stopped at ikea, parked by our selves way out in the lot. Came out about an hour later and the lot was almost full and some dick had keyed the drivers door and rear quarter. Of course cameras were to far away to see anything.. Got it fixed ad it looks s good s new, but still someone could haved died that day!

At Church!?!?!?!?

Time to find a new congregation.

You said "do's and dont's of parking". Do you think you did something to warrant negative attention?

I know the feeling of getting a Vette keyed and I feel your pain. The back end of my C5 coupe was keyed while the car was parked at a viewing area in Arches National Park. Find a good body shop and you won't be able to see anything when they are done. My insurance covered the complete repair.

In a Church parking lot that sucks. Karma is a bitch though they will probably be peddling a Yugo for life.

Nobody "reports to carfax." If you file a police report on a collision, it shows up on as an accident on carfax or other reports.

When you make a claim on your own to the insurance company, it does not show up on reports. Vandalism is a comprehensive claim in all states, now universally referred to as "other than collision".

Look on the bright side- the car is about to get an awesome new paint job for cheap.

Man, I feel for you; what an absolute low life. It happened to me a long time ago so I honestly know how you must feel.

Probably some low life with his pants hanging around his ankles. I am getting more nervous about where I park nowadays. With the sense of entitlement lately, I'm afraid this kinda thing is going to get more prevalent.

I'm sorry about the senseless vandalism to your car. If it's even worth going-through your insurance company I wouldn't worry about carfax or diminished value. It's not like the chassis is bent....it's a minor scrape in the paint which can be fixed better than new. It is what it is. In the grand scheme of things I doubt it'll make any difference. Get it repaired and get back to enjoying your car.

Or is it a lost cause?
I feel your pain. 40 years ago my 67 Camaro was keyed from one end to the other and across the rear trunk one early cold January night. I eventually found out who the perp was months later. A young teenage girl on my street. Karma caught up with her about 10 years ago and now she is in a box in the ground due to her own stupidity.

A police report is NOT a must. it will depend on your agent and your insurance company. Sorry for your pain and good luck on the repair. I would take some pictures and if it does show up on Carfax you can show the buyer it was not from a wreck.

There are azzholes everywhere..... Even at a church. (Obviously)

Although I can not say I know what having my Vette keyed feels like, I can certainly share a story about not one, not two, but three douchebags from a church my GF and I chose to attend.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought Jerry Springer was in town. Some ***-hat douchebag that recognized me as a former BF to his clingy psycho co-worker felt it was his duty and sole responsibility to ensure he made it public awareness in the church.

To the pathetic douchebags who have a pathetic boring life who have to spice their own PATHETIC LIFE by starting high school drama....heres a big "religious my ***" Fck You All!!

As for your keyed Vette, sorry to read that brother. What a faceless pathetic cowardly act of douchebaggery.

I'm a little lost on our logic since these things usually happen when you aren't there. Is he supposed to sit in his car waiting every time it's parked? That kind of defeats the purpose of driving it and parking it anywhere.

Had my car 4 years and so far OK, but it's what I have been uneasy about ever since I bought it. Sorry for your loss.

I want to thank everyone for their condolences. Getting older isn't all bad, I usually don't get angry, upset, or whatever emotion detracts from my peace of mind because I realize most things I used to get upset over aren't that big of a deal.

Are you sure about this, sounds ridiculous to me but I guess you never know.

OP, sorry for your damage. I know what I'd like to do with these types of vandals!
Because it was posted on the forum....
