I have to say, I didn't care much for the C6 until they came out with the wide body Z06. I was bummed out for years that they wouldn't offer the Z06 in a convertable or at least the targa top. I understand why, but I still wanted one. When they introduced the 427 convertable this year, that was all it took. The new C7 is pretty cool from the front quarter view, but I agree with most every one else as the rear is quite ugly. I sure hope that isn't it, but then again, in a few years maybe it will grow on all of us. I do believe the new car will be a step up in technology and performance and will raise Corvette's flag a little higher.

Here, from C7 Forum, is the latest, most accurate render of the rear. You still may not like it, but this is at least closer to reality.

If a C7 is a C6.5, what do you call the 1961 Corvette, shown below with a 1960. They are both called C1. The entire C1 through C7 nomenclature is extraneous.

I honestly don't see myself ever buying something that looks like this.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with your having that opinion. I, on the other hand, like that look. Definitely a departure from the C6 though, don't you think, and I LOVE the look of my C6?

Truer words have never been spoken.
IMO, regarding the rear tail lights, until seeing the actual thing in person it's hard to come to a real conclusion or opinion.
And as time passes, perceptions change either for better or worse.
Although, if not completely round I would like/hope to see the tail lights be more rounded compared to what all the rendering have shown.
But to me, the 240Z look alike roof line with the rear side windows take away from the Corvette look more than anything else

You're right..this isn't the C7 section and it has no bearing on the c6 other then the fact that it will succeed it.

By the way, I think the car looks great, even the back end. But my C6 convertible still looks sweet, too!
No, they got the interior wrong again with the C6. hey also got the stereo wrong. They got the nav wrong etc...........

I hope the C7 fixes all that & more.

Have to agree. I love my C6 and have kept it for 6 years, something I've never done with a car before. However, I really do think the interior is cheap-looking and the nav is hideous. My business partner's F-150 has a far superior nav system - both in screen resolution and ease of use. The portable Garmin I take with me on trips is far superior to my C6's crappy nav screen. I may be interested in the C7, but if they haven't done a major upgrade to the entire interior and the cabin tech, I'll just stick with my C6.

When the C5 was close to production and needed road testing, Camaro body parts were used as a camouflage technique. I suspect the same is being done with the C7.

It will and once people stop all the fault finding with it like they did when the C6 was introduced it will be a big seller.

Bottom line, everyone has different tastes in what they like and dislike - otherwise there would only be one product of everything.

It's interesting to note that at the exact same time 8 years ago when the C6 was just about to be launched, everyone with a C5 was saying the same thing, that it didn't look much different than a C5 - in fact, I remember a similar thread about a "C5.5". I, too, was one of the naysayers saying that it was not a leap, but an evolution in style and a little in performance. But when the wide body Z06 came out, most Vette enthusiasts I know said that "this is what the C6 should have been all along" - it's no wonder why the Grand Sport was so successful. As soon as a wide body was available in a convertible, I was all over it (GS).

One thing to remember is that the significant changes made from C1 to C2 to C3 weren't making big aerodynamic changes. Today, with racing technology, weight, etc., the design HAS to take into the aero aspects, as engineers try to maximize minimal drag coefficient. And you can't do all that much with design once you take that into consideration.

I guarantee that most of us current "naysayers" will HAVE a C7 in our garage at some point in the future. Though I'm not a 100% supporter, I do like a lot of what the C7 looks likes and offers. And compared to the earlier renditions of the Camaro-like back ends, the most recent pictures are looking a lot better. I think we are seeing the trend in GM going with square-ish styling in the rear end for the future in a lot of GM cars. And remember, when the round tail lights of the C5 came around (the C4's were square), lots of people didn't like those either. I kind of compare it to the Cadillac's CTS when it first came out. It was such a radical departure from what they were doing that most people I know didn't like it - and now, after growing on us, is one gorgeous car.

I think that's what will happen with the C7 for all of us. I'm just sayin'...

I had an'85 from '85 to '90, it was my only vehicle and I put 60,000 miles on it. Didn't own another Vette until I bought a 2007. Regardless of looks (which I like but irrelevant to this comment), I was SHOCKED at the seat of the pants performance difference. Performance wise I think you are truly missing out on a blast

The C7 will be unveiled in just over two weeks and all the speculation will finally end. Don't be fooled by all these so-called "renderings" we've seen over the last several months. I fully expect that everyone who loves Corvettes will be pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the car. I truly believe it will be a knockout. The wait is almost over.
