Look, I apologize, I know this is not the C7 section of the forum, but this post is relevant, I believe, to C6 owners and fans. I've chosen not to drink the C7 kool-aid, and yet, I'm pretty sure that the C7 will be better than the C6 in every way. I mean it has to be better in every way right? And I may well own one someday. But I just went over to the C7 discussion to take a peak and I was pretty surprised by what I saw in that the latest C7 renderings (this close to launch) still look a lot like the C6, which is exactly what I thought every time I saw a C7 spy photo (albeit with the car draped in tape and covering)! So either GM has done one hell of a job fooling all of us or this is going to be the weakest generational "evolution" in the car's history. If it is the latter, my worst fears will be realized in that this new generation is more about evolution in gas mileage and emmissions than it is about an evolution in the car's looks and high performance.
Bottom line, I'm prepared, not happy about, but prepared for the new Vette to mockingly be referred to as the C6.5 That would be sad and disappointing but on the other hand, I don't see how that is bad for us C6.0 Corvette owners.
Below is most recent rendering of C7 next to a C6 widebody. Hey, maybe that's the deal. Relative to the widebody, maybe it is really is a C6.5!

Well it should have SOME resemblance to the previous generation (and NOT go retro), but I think the C7, if this is really it, is significantly different in design. Especially regarding the entire roof/hatch area and rear end. I would hardly call it a C6.5, any more than the C6 should have been called a C5.5.
I've loved every generation better than the next with the exception of the C3 later year models (78-82), and I still love them but hard to beat the C2 for any year. Anyway, my only complaint about the C7 at this time is them going to the Camaro style tail lights. I will never accept that whether I like the looks of them or not, they aren't Corvette.
I still find it hard to tell the difference of a C5 and C6 from a distance and I have a C6.
BTW, got the new Car & Driver today (February, 2013). Great article comparing the ZR-1 to the new Viper. Corvette lovers will like it very much.
if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seriously, most would agree that Chevy mostly got it right with the C6, so they shouldn't change a lot of things just to be different. Just make some improvements and move in the right direction. That should also help to control costs.
By the way, I think the car looks great, even the back end. But my C6 convertible still looks sweet, too!
The c7 looks good -- 3/4ths of the time. If the renderings of the rear are true, dayum it's ugly from the back.
Maybe it will grow on me after a few years, but right now I have C6z06 and am happy as hell.
I like the more modern angular look they are going for but they went too crazy on the back. I see more Audi in the tail lights than I do corvette.
I'm sure the C7 will be better overall, it has to be. I'm quite sure I will be jealous of the revamped interior. Doesn't mean I'm going to buy one though.
Well in a couple of more weeks we will all have the answer to the C7 mystery. I am sure it will have its critics just like when the C6 came out with the exposed headlights, etc. Now it is every owners dream car looking to fault the C7.
Well, they say it has “a substantially new platform” and that there are only two carryover parts from the C6. You SHOULD be able to recognize it as a Corvette when you see it. Let's hope that it doesn't look like a Camaro from the rear!
When I got my C6 Nov 2004 most of the C5 drivers said C6 was really a C5.5 without pop up headlights. Having similar features is not a bad thing...hell Porsche has made it an art form with their 911 series
To me, the combination of flat rear window, 240Z-like roofline, and Camaro-like taillights make it not look like a Corvette. I remember a quote from Tom Peters in "Corvette: Rebuilding An Icon" (excellent DVD about the designing of the C6) in which he points out that when the C6 was being designed, a non-negotiable was that "it had better look like a Corvette." Truer words have never been spoken.

That is the first thing I thought when I saw the side view drawings was that it looked a lot like the old 240Z from about 40 years ago and the whole car design had a Japanese feel.
I have been driving vettes since I was 17 and have owned 25 from all 6 generations to date and hope that the sales turn around with the new C7 or it just may be the last Corvette series and to me that would be very sad.
I hope I feel very different when I see the C7 in person but from what I have seen the rear end is down right hideous in the renderings showing the rear view.
From this front view that was posted today it looks pretty good.
From all that I have seen and heard about the C7....it will not be a C6.5! The body, interior, engine, transmission, frame (aluminum) etc. will all be different from the C6.
This transition from C6 to C7 will be more like the transition from C4 to C5. However, even with this complete change....it will be recognizable as a Corvette!

These are the first renderings I've seen of the convertible. I can't say that I'm happy.
Tell me it isn't true. The rear end is hideous because it resembles the new Camaro which is both double ugly and silly at the same time; the side is rather obnoxious with that big-*** slash fender vent; only the front looks good. I've also seen glimpses of the C7 dash, which look like a fifties pin-ball machine. Good grief. Is that really the best they could do? I sincerely hope the the upcoming showing in a couple of weeks proves me wrong, wrong, wrong.

There are carry-overs to be sure but according to one GM engineer, the C6 was about 80% different than the C5. The C7 shares only two minor parts with the C6. The C7 is about 99.9% different than the C6. The C7 will be an evolution of the Corvette but a C6.5 it isn't.
