Some may consider this blasphemy akin to putting lipstick on a pig, so I am faced with keeping my car under wraps and only driving in the dead of night, hoping I won't be discovered as the lowlife pretender that I am.

Such is lot in life of the Base Model owner. Oh the horror.
I feel your pain my brother. I purchased the absolute worst C6 corvette possible! A 2005 MODEL!!!! I had no choice. I'm just lowly redneck, blue collar white trash. It was the best I could do. Please, please forgive me.

I couldn't care less about getting into pissing matches either, to me it shows insecurity. I can't stand the people that like to thump their chest, so I don't do it. I don't want to be "that person" that just brags about how awesome I think my ZR1 is. It's just a car.

And I didn't buy the car to attract attention, I bought it for me. I shouldn't be forced to show it off and talk to everyone about it because it's not their car. I shouldn't have to justify it to anyone either. I'm not going to not drive it because I don't want the attention, that's just an annoying consequence that I deal with. I am aware that it comes with the territory, and that's why I'm always polite. But I can be polite and in a hurry too.

If you can't understand that I drive it because I like, then I don't know what else to say. I don't care if someone else hates it or loves it, and I don't want to talk to them about it. It's a device to be driven, not a conversation starter. I know plenty of people like to buy cars because they want to show off, but that's not why I do.
Just talking about how you don't want to be "that person" makes you "that person". Wait.. what? J/K

Then don't ask questions when you might not like the answer. I didn't just say that for the sake of saying it, I was asked.

Blasphemy! Corvettes, even base drivers, must never wave at Mustangs. To quote a famous Dr; "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"

Disclaimer: I am a base driver. The GS in my sig was traded in earlier this year but I couldn't bear to be without a Vette so I bought one I could afford.

Note to self----------------feed my pet lobster mac and cheese right before 'harvest'.

2nd note------------stop waving at Mustangs hoping to atone for my base model transgression.

This is good stuff...
So you traded in your GS and bought a Vette you could afford? Meaning a cheap base model...but you didn't change your sig pic of your traded in GS to proudly display your new base model? Hmmmm...sorry but i have to laugh at that!

I'm just the opposite, my avatar is of my old base after buying a GS because I'm too lazy to change it.

No worries. Taking a picture of the car, besides the ones I took the day I bought it when it had to be towed on a flat bed during the test drive, is something I need to do. However, it's been a freakin monsoon here and it started the day I bought it. No kidding, I haven't even had time to wash the dust off from the garage!

I get a ton of dust on the car. I keep the doors closed as much as possible but just going in and out seems to let the dust in. I also have to keep the door closed because birds are constantly flying in and trying to build nests on the garage door opener. Of course their bathroom is directly below...on my car!
