Wow, what a nice conversion. I say, if it's your car car and it makes you happy...
I initially loved my C-6 lights, but I think the C-7 is an improvement! I hope to see the finished product. It takes guts to cut on Vettes like that, but aparently this is you forte'. Keep us posted!!
I am a KITT-replica builder / and C6 owner. I realy dont care for any 'heavy' mods on C6....but the c6 was my least favorite corvette because of those 'simple' headlights.
This mod....ROCKS! Love it. Do you have some more pictures of your ride. Had lots of trouble making custom wire connectors?
Well, got tired of waiting on the guy who's doing this for production. I bought the C7 headlights just after the C7 came out with the intent of doing this. (Even though at the time I was driving a C5!). I bought another C6 a couple months ago and came across a forum member who was posting about his C7 headlight widebody project. I was happy to see that and would have liked to buy his if it wasn't a widebody kit or even maybe if it was but it wasn't available.....
So yesterday morning me and a buddy banged this out in about 8 hours. Should have it primered tomorrow and painted by this weekend. If I like it and it comes out the way it looks like it is going to, I'll probably mold the bumper and fender and sell the conversion kit. I've seen one other guy with a blue one that I honestly thought his headlights were too high on the fender. I did some cutting on the ends of the bumper to allow these to come down nice and low near the front edge of the bumper cover. What do you guys think?
I've had 39 new cars, trucks, cars, and motorycles including 3 Vettes. I always make bolt on mods to suite my tastes and thereby make my cars unique to me.
This is not that.
This is automotive artistry!
It shows ingenuity, creativity, and some mad skills.
KUDOS
I wonder if Michelangelo heard comments from any haters in his time.
This is a fantastic mode, ahead of the curve for sure. I have the same attitude. Make it for for you and forget all the neg-heads as they just do not understand. I modded my C7 and the gal I "WAS" dating said, why do you take a perfectly good car and change it like that? No class at all. No understanding of excellence or ingenuity. But that is fine. Each to their own is my view. But anyone who takes a C6 or a C5 and does this type of thing to make it better is what the Corvette sprite is about. I am thinking of getting a "wide body" to keep at my FL home as I don't want two C7s. This would make a older model look great. I would do this in a heart beat.

Thanks guys. I sincerely appreciate the kind words. One of my best friends and car building mentors, Mike Vetter, was instrumental in helping me bring this to the level it is. Just wanted to make sure I mentioned my appreciation for his assistance because it saved me taking a few weeks to only a few days.
The harness won't be a problem although I do need to source some C6 and C7 GM factory plugs so there won't be any wiring needed. Especially since all the wires coming out of the C7 headlight are BLACK only!?! LoL horrible planning on that!
Just finishing the wet sanding and should have it painted this afternoon. Hope to get you guys more pics next day or two.
Haha I love haters comments the most. You guys are awesome. In my life I choose to focus on good things and I admire those who step out of the box. If it weren't for this mentality I wouldn't have started numerous companies. I wouldn't have just bought my first real Lamborghini Murcielago. I wouldn't have given thousands of Corvette owners products that make their car more enjoyable and practical. It's the doubters and haters that been a key part of teaching me how important doing your own thing in life regardless of what others say is what separates the average from the exceptional. Keep the angry comments coming it only makes me smile more.
All the compliments are appreciated just as much guys
Just finished last primer coat. Going to test this setup for a few weeks and then mold everything including drop in headlight mounts so you won't need to weld anything. I measured these with a C7Z at the shop the other day and the angles are very close so they should be adjustable to line up fine. Worst case I will modify the housings to align and level them out as I have on a few other custom builds.
Like it! And I thought only C1/ C2 mods brought out the hate...wow.
Nothing new about "updating" Corvettes, suggest you go to the C1/C2 section and search "Fiberfab Centurion".
This was a whole-body kit designed to drop on a C1 chassis and make it look like Bill Mitchell's original Sting Ray racer, the inspiration for the C2. AIR no more than a dozen were produced (GM lawsuit), and at least one in Britain and one in California are now being vintage raced.
I get a kick out of people who look for simple negative terms to undercut the validity of anyone who disagrees with them. Sort of like a junior high school move at best. The person who started this thread had an idea and a lot of skills to make the idea happen. It has generated a lot of interest as well. He asked for opinions. Many liked it, some did not... A lot of junior high school folks pulled out the "Haters" label against anyone who disagree with them. So then, who are the real haters?
