[QUOTE=SSWEET;1592750178]...all previous Grand Sports had "racing stripes".../QUOTE]
Not exactly:
Back in 1963, the Mecom racing team fielded 3 of the 5 original Grand Sports at Nassau. All were painted identical. So, in order to tell them apart as they approached coming down pit lane, color coded hash marks (black, white and red) were placed on the front of the car (not the fenders). This particular race was the only time the hash marks were ever used on the original Grand Sports.

This is what I call a "racing stripe" (QUOTE=SSWEET;1592750178]...all previous Grand Sports had "racing stripes".../QUOTE]).
The short stripe(s)/mark(s) are what I call hash marks. And I agree...not to my liking.

...interesting Ruxy.....the story I got was that they used duct tape on the fenders in a 1 strip 2 strips or 3 strips depending on which car it was......thus is where the legendary hash marks got their start........I like them because it makes my car a bit different than all the others....

Normally pride Goeth before the fall.

When they talk junk, just ask them when they are going to mount the giant wing on their car and put stickers in the windows, because if they are going act like a ricer, they might as well look like one.

Then walk away.

Didn't know there was such a thing as "a nice little "OOPS" scuff on the rear fender". Kinda like this? It certainly makes it look different...

Ha! I OWN a C6, and I can't tell the difference, unless it's a Z06 or GS!
I'm too busy driving mine to worry about what some other azzhat has!

Just use the GS stripes to cover up the OOOPS.

Off Topic.....The Speed Brakes comment reminds me of a funny story.

At the end of a vette show I saw a guy layering the front of his vette with the 2" painters tape. I had never seen this before but knew why he was doing it...most use a bra help with the bugs and chips....anyway I was curious so I walked over to chat with him. He said he had several hundred miles to get home and always protected his front this way. It was fast and easy.

Then he told me his funny story. One time when he did this he noticed the front end of the car would start to get loose or shimmy when he got up to 120-130, headed home. He would slow down and it would stop. So he stopped and got out to check the front end for anything.

First thing he noticed was most of the layers of the painters tape were pealing up from the front edge of the tape. He laughed at himself because he had put it on from the bottom of the grill overlapping it as he went up the front, instead of the other way around..

In this manner the leading edge of the tape was left on top of the previous one instead of under it, allowing it to peal up at the higher speed.. creating his own Speed Brake.

We both had a good laugh. PS, he didn't look like and "Old G Ser" either.

Yup...the hash marks rank right up there with highlighting the "CORVETTE" letters on the back bumper and putting a bigass "CORVETTE" banner across the windshield.
But then only 9 people voted for my car in the monthly thingy.

So my vote made a difference, getting only 8 would have been down right embarrassing...

Sad to say Ruxy, most people "ooohhh and aaahhh" over the "stick on" add on crap that really takes away from the original beauty of the car, doesn't seem to matter which generation Corvette either................

but then again, "to each his / her own" as it is their car and money to do with whatever they want......................

saw a car at a show once win "Best of Show" full of swirls, scratches, and not very clean, but he had the whole engine compartment plastics "carbon fibered" bright blue to set it off.......... on a yellow car

IMHO, if they spent as much taking proper care of the car, or perhaps adding subtle enhancements to make their car "unique and special" or performance enhancing items it would be worthwhile...
