Having owned many Corvettes over the last 42+ years I've met all kinds of owners. There's a reason for the joke about Corvette owners and porcupines, and I fully agree with it.
Coming from the world of Trans Ams/Camaros and being new to the Corvette world......I assumed (wrongfully so) that Vette owners would be snooty. After thinking about it for a few minutes, its actually been Camaro owners (especially 5th gen) who have been the snobbier owners. Every Vette owner that Ive met has been very willing to talk or educate me on the history, options and the joys of the Corvette.

I have met some snooty Corvette owners....but most of them have been waxers at shows.....I would try to engage in some nice car talk and they would not have time because they were using their feather dusters keeping their cars perfect.......I believe them to be the minority of owners though.....most folks are car guys and gals and have had multiple Corvettes and are more than willing to talk about each Generation and share a laugh or two......
Prior to it's re-emergence in 2010....all previous Grand Sports had "racing stripes" not just those little fender hashmarks..........that's why I chose to forego the fender hash marks and actually had a racing stripe applied.

I actually haven't met any rude corvette folks. That is unless you include the non wavers
Now their was this one mustang guy that was a complete jerk to say the least. Oh well it takes all kinds I guess.
True and honorable Corvette owners appreciate all Corvettes and owners as long as they take care of their cars.
This is very true !!.....and I apologize if I offend any GS owner...(but get rid of the fender stripes)...it is all in good fun.....but.....wait....but.....the base is faster !!!!.........
A Base vs GS with the M6 transmission ... I am thinking they would be very close in performance. The Base may have an edge since it more than likely weighs a couple of pounds less.
Now, as for the GS with A6 transmission ... The GS has a lower overall drive ratio that would be better suited for the 1/4 mile drag race (my guess is the GS would be quicker in the 1/4 mile).
All I know is I like some Corvettes and hot rods and am nice to everybody that will let me.. I usually find something I like about all Vettes. I mean they have started out right by being a Vette. It wont be me that picks a car to pieces.. Live and let live and live to drive.

Yea....right around or about a 100 lbs lighter I think. Not sure if the old rule of thumb still exist, but every 100 lbs was good for about 1/10th of a second. Probably not more than a car length at 120 MPH or there bouts. Not much margin for error on either drivers part.
can't have a "base with Z51 option" you ether have a base or a Z51
Um....no. Z51 is an option, not a model. So you either have a base, or you have a base with Z51 option. My 08 vert is a 3LT base model with the Z51 option.

Forum members' 1/4-mile times & trap speeds from the C6 Tech stickies.
[QUOTE=WW7;1592743835]Where does my friends Z51 Base model fall in the pecking order..He's only got a base model, but he's putting out around 700 hp...Would he be above the Z06, or is it just about which model you have, and not about the HP your running.???.........WW

I figure if you dust someones butt pretty good with a base it ought to get you at least spoke to at the drive in even without badges and stripes.
