Um....no. Z51 is an option, not a model. So you either have a base, or you have a base with Z51 option. My 08 vert is a 3LT base model with the Z51 option.
Yep, except if it is a '14 Z51. It was listed as a separate model to order for the '14MY.
Everyone can backpedal as much as they want, change the order form for '15 and beyond, but it doesn't change the fact that GM offered the Z51 as a "Model" for '14.

So to be entirely accurate, there was no "base" model C6. The model was simply called Corvette. You could get either a Coupe or Convertible as a sub-model and all else were options.

Isn't this the C6 forum? I was referring to C6's, which is what I thought we talked about here...

Correct.
There is no "base" model. It's either a Coupe or Convertible Corvette.
Then they started making The Corvette ZO6 for those who didn't (or couldn't) want to build a faster Corvette themselves.
Then the ZR1...
Then they started making the poser mobile
Which they refer to as the GS...
Just kidding!
Some like their cars "built, not bought", so they buy a Corvette because it's a great "base" to build a fantastic car.

I wonder what the percentage of brand new "Base"....(oops...sorry)...buyers take their brand new Corvette out and start modding it ? I would think very low. I would think that most of the home grown modding doesn't start on a Corvette until it changes hands a couple of times, or at least until the warranty is gone.....HUM.....

Since I joined the forum in '07, I've noticed the cosmetic and accessory mods usually start in the first 6 months and are done by the majority of forum members. I did my first mod the same day as delivery.
Performance mods are done by a much smaller percentage of owners and don't start as early. I waited 3 months before I voided my engine warranty with a tune. Most original owners don't keep the car long enough to pass the warranty period, so yes, 2nd and 3rd owners are the usual more serious performance modders. The less serious ones mod, but not to the extent to void their warranty.
It's just my observation and may not reflect reality.
In my experience those @#$%&s are not true Corvette enthusiasts, they just bought their car because of the status it gives them. They are also the drivers that do not wave or return a Corvette wave. Wouldn't worry about them bro

I find your thoughts of most of the forum members doing mods within the first 6 months of ownership intriguing. I wouldn't have thought near that many would tear into a brand new car. Guess i'm just an old prude....LOL. Guess the next step would be to get a feel for what percentage of owners are members of this forum ??....
