This is the plate holder from Top Flight Reproductions. It requires no drilling or dis-assembly of the bumper, and can be removed/replaced in about 30 seconds.

I have a removable plate mount for sale if you're interested. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...te-holder.html I removed it to accommodate a mesh grill and went with a sto-&-show hide away plate holder.

I was parked in downtown Portland and found an $80 ticket on my car when I returned for no front license. I hate to spend money to get the bracket so I can deface the front of my car.
I have enjoyed and appreciated all of your comments. I just needed to vent some frustration, see what others were thinking. I am over it. Ordered a removable bracket. I will get used to it and continue to enjoy the ride!

Front plates are required in NJ. I did not have one on the front of my Vette for the first month I owned it (no bracket), and didn't have a problem. Now that I have a front bracket, I usually have a novelty plate (Bicentennial 1976) on the front. Still haven't had a problem. If pulled over, I would also try the "Sorry, just coming from a car show" excuse.

I have the Top Flight Reproductions removable front bracket. Costs a little more, but looks better to me because it is centered and conforms to the shape of the front. I can run the front plate or remove the front plate with just two wingnuts. I usually run without the plate, but when I do have it on, I have not seen any difference in running temps.

Go to thedoubleAA.com and see what they have. I have one on my 2011 GS here in Texas and had one on my 2009 Base.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I haven't had a front plate on any of my last 5 cars since the late 80's and never been stopped for it. 14 years in Maryland which requires it and 13 years in Nevada which also requires it. Knock Knock.

I agree. You may want to check out Topflight. I take my front plate off and on frequently and never incurred a problem.

I extended my stripes to the top flight frame in the same way TF has them already finished on their plates for the 427s. It seems to hide the plate even more. Since you have the stripes, thought you might want to check it out.

The other thing I am going to do is replace the bolts they provide to something smaller/less shiny (maybe color match them).

I have two Grandsports (with over 70k combined for those who might say they don't get driven or I would have beeen ticketed) in Houston, Tx and neither have front plate brackets.

I have never been stopped solely for not having a front plate and on the rare occasion I'm stopped for a different infraction (expired registration sticker or speeding) I have only been warned about the lack of front plate, never cited.

Apparently the vette owners up in the Dallas and surrounding metroplex area get more grief from local LEO's but I have driven all over the state without issue.

I went for years without a front plate on my cars and never had a problem until the local governments got strapped for cash. My first was in the S.F. Bay Area on my '00 Camaro and the cop actually pulled me over just for the plate issue. My more recent one was combined with a speeding ticket in my '09 Corvette. That one would have cost me $165 if I hadn't complied. I bought a removable front plate mount, had it signed off by the police and then removed it. It has a detent pin with a finger ring to allow you to remove it in seconds. It's sitting behind my passenger side seat. Cars with nanny systems forced on us by a nanny state that will continue to expand its control over our day to day life. Don't forget to vote.

My 2005 BMW X5 has never had a front plate..no issues so far Knock on Friggn wood !!

Both my 2013 and 2012 Grandsport dont have a front plate. -- No problem yet.

I do not drink when I am out wit these cars - thinkin this gives the coppers a reason to stop me --

Hope the string of luck continues.. I hate front plates BTW

I believe the front plates are required in part because laser radar units rely on them and/or headlights to get a good reading.

I put one on my 11GS (see pic) and I think it looks good, but I would have preferred to leave it off.
