Um looks like the trolls got to this one. Also not to be mean, but you should retire as soon as you comfortably can do so, no point in working yourself to death. You have worked hard enough in your life, you earned your retirement, take it. I've lost three co workers who were past the retirement age this year, who never got to retire and enjoy life because they couldn't let go of work.
Why should I retire because some kid thinks I should? I enjoy what I do and will continue until I am physically unable or until it stops being fun.
I've already been where you are, but you have yet to be where I am.
Yes....liking what you do is the ticket. Makes all the difference in the world when one is considering retirement. I wish I would have liked my job cause i would still be doing it. But the job I had just plain ol S@#$ED, so I had to get out as soon as i could afford to. I was lucky enough to be able to do that......

That is exactly right. I loved what I did (professional firefighter), but my body wouldn't let me do it anymore, not including all of the BS politics that goes on that I absolutely hated. So I retired after 26 1/2 years. Haven't found a job that I would enjoy doing since, but still looking. Its been almost 6 years now since retiring.
