Default Finally pulled the trigger

I hope that this make sense. I am really tired.
Some of you guys probably remember that I haven't been able to close a deal or make the trip when the price was close enough to look at. Some of you told me to wait until I found exactly what I wanted, even if if was one of several packages or combinations.
#1, I decided I wanted the wide body. It just looks so bad *** from behind.
I didn't want to to give up any conveniences of my Camaro SS. HUD, Heated Seats, Big Screen.
Colors: either jet stream blue, red metallic, or white that I had decided to add some shade of crimson metallic stripes. Painted, not a sticker.
So, I brought home a 2012 4LT GS CE today. I love the dark gray flake. I think I got a pretty good deal, and I think it was because of an accident report on it. When I saw it, I knew I wanted it. t looked so bad *** compared to the base cars. Some of you had said that would happen I would see the car, and KNOW! Yep. It has showed minor to moderate damage from a guardrail with no air bag deployment. It checked out, drove well, and I took a chance. It was advertised with both tops, but the transparent top was not included because the previous owner hadn't brought it in. Before total numbers were established, I told them that I agreed to the price we established before I made the 6 hour trip, but they needed to either reduce the price of the car the price of a used replacement top (I said $600, I thought that was fair) or replace the top and mail it to me. It didn't matter to me, either would work.Whatever worked best for them. I went to close not knowing which decision would work for them.
My buddy notices an older gentleman, probably in his 70's, carrying in a top in to the lobby in the bag. When he was walking out, I followed and asked him if he was the previous owner of the Corvette as he walked past. He was, and I asked him about the accident. We introduced ourselves and he was a very nice older guy, retired military, very tall. He said, "Of course, would you like to see pictures"? He had hydroplaned in a thunderstorm on the interstate and "rubbed most of the front against a concrete guardrail. It spun again and left a volleyball sized rub mark on the right rear near the tail light. No cracked body that could see, he said he drove it home but was too embarrassed to drive it to work.. It other words, it was still perfectly functional, just a little uglier. He told me he loved the car, but just couldn't get up and down so well anymore. He told me who worked on it but I can't remember. But they did nice job. That black metallic flake is bad ***. The flat black stripe steals the whole car. Subtle but nice. Sets it off, I think. I'm thinking of doing some kind of carbon fiber metallic gray painted stripe. Something to make it mine. I would have to see a sample first. The previous owner had bought a Raptor. Easier to get into, almost as fast, and the wife might drive it.
I am sold on the car. It's faster than the Camaro, but not by much. It is lighter, but I didn't drive the Vette as hard today as I did the camaro yesterday. Today we were stuck on 69-71 all day long. We didn't do much interstate, and that was the plan. I only did a few quick passes from 65 to 95 before slowing down again. The Camaro does it, but with less nose lift. I am deciding that I prefer a nose to lift on a car and dive when asked to. The Vette is closer to a rocket. The Camaro SS RS is a heavier, really fast and boxier looking 4 seater Vette. Kinda how I felt. And I really loved it.
First trip headaches. The biggest help I need: Who makes a good phone caddy for the C6. There has to be some slick stuff out there for phones. Who has something organized for storage directly behind the seats on the rear trunk deck. I was going to use the cubby in the rear deck area for a decent air pump emergency kit with plugs, knives, pliars, and with a plug kit with assorted glue and hardware.and thin coveralls!
I love the car. It's a little low, I rub dips on my street. I rub getting in to my driveway. I am starting to work the math of angles, and it works well. Sometimes.
Thank you for the help and advice. There are some great people here that help tremendously. I think my next question for you may involve the NAV, or potentially adding a back up camera from my current stock head unit.
But yeah. I'm an owner again.
Next question, maybe rear tires.

Congrats!

The factory nav isnt really capable of a backup camera. There used to be an outfit that soldered in a video input, not sure if theyre around still. You kinda have to get creative to get the camera in, or use an aftermarkrt radio. Ive seen some people get slick and put a screen in the sunvisor whers the mirror is. Personally, i just use the mirrors.

Tires are a fun one. Whats on it now? Its not recommended to mix tires front and back. Youre better off buying all new tires.

I dont use a phone holder, i usually keep mine on or in the center console. Im driving not using the phone typically in this car. I have seen a new one from weathertech that looks really nice and functional. In my college days we would install brackets that would screw in behind the radio trim, i never liked how they looked but lots of people are all about having the phone visible while driving.

I keep all my emergency stuff in the back box (autos have 2 boxes, but mine is a stick and the battery is in one, not sure about yours). They fit a lot of stuff surprisingly.
Anyways... dont forget to post pics!

Awesome! Congratulations! Sounds like a nice GS for sure! For a backup camera, if you really want one, I would highly recommend a new head unit. You lose the directions in the HUD, but get a nicer interface that can use your Phone's NAV. The Stock NAV's DVD can be updated to 2016. That is the last one that will be released as far as I know.
I am still using the Stock NAV, well if I need to, or just use the phone's and have it talk through the radio via USB. There are a ton of good mounts out there for a phone. I like the magnetic one I got that you put a little metal piece in the case to snap it to the mount. Plenty of options for that out there, and if you need directions to a place not in the NAV you can always go that route.
I have gotten very comfortable backing the car up. The rear is surprisingly close to the window, early on I would be parked way in front of the object, but have gotten used to it and getting very close.

So did you get the top from the owner?

Anyway good luck with the car, and as mentioned. None of this happened without PICS!

Default Phone holders

I ordered me a phone holder from ProClip USA and a pivoting magnetic mount from oliv mounts.com for it. It’s a great and secure set up.

Congrats!

Phone holder - I posted a thread a few weeks ago. Pro Clip and Scosche appeared to be the most popular. I went with Scosche, $12 on Amazon.

Sorry for the long first post. Much longer than I intended, but I think I was a little pumped. I will post a pic when I get some time.
I have both tops. I used them both on the trip home, and I like the non-transparent better. The previous owner had never had the transparent top on. Thanks for the phone cradle tips.

Congrats on the GS, I do love the paint on those CE's.

Keep checking craigslist or any other for sale sites for storage bins, I picked up one of the old GM 3 section ones last month for cheap off of CL. Yea. the magnetic mounts for the phones are cheap and work great, I bought a 2 pack and put one in the wife's car https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
