Bruze, what are you doing here? I thought you would be out drinking a Guinness with some of those barmaids you are always talking about. It is Saturday night.
If you aren't going to be pushing the braking and handling limits then I would suggest skipping the ZR1.
So if you are looking to spend the extra cash here are a few suggestions: (guessing at prices here)
Supercharger to get close to the power $10k
New Stereo to get the latest tech $1k
Rims/Tires $3k
Widebody kit $2k
Front Splitter and side skirts $2k
Party for your corvette forum friends $10k
Then you have basically a ZR-1 look alike and as a bonus you aren't paying ZR-1 insurance rates

Hell yes i would do that. I'm not a fixed roof guy, but I would do that in a heartbeat. It's the fastest version of the best corvette. I dont love nor hate the color, very indifferent to it. I would maybe wrap it or something if you really dont like it.
It's a proven platform at a great price. No way would I spend probably double that on a potentially problematic c8. Especially since its auto only, ugly. Looks cheap inside, and has less practicality. I feel bad for C8 buyers honestly.
So your name IRL is "Torch Red Al" ???? Seems like the little wifey should be wearing that moniker . . .
"Torch Red Peg." Not bad!
Most days I feel a lot like Al Bundy. I probably should not have laughed so much when the show was on. Well, I'm off to sell shoes to fat chicks now Bruze. We are having some crazy nice weather lately here on the north east, enjoy your day. Tell the barmaids I said "Hello" .

Haha, I forgot about his job and how much he "loved" it.
Weather is great! Headed for mid-80s today. If I stop at any bars it will be to watch football, and that particular bar only has fat young barmaids.
But I'll tell them Al Bundy said "Hi" anyway -- even though they probably weren't born yet when the show was on and know nothing about it.

Bone stock C6 ZR1 puts down 535-550 RWHP. If he puts a blower on existing car upgrades clutch he will make more power than a ZR1 for 11K.
OP what is your goal and if you don’t like color why spend all that money....

There is just something about the C6. Proportion wise it is so right. and less ****les than C7 with that goofy semi digital gauge clusterf....
Party? I 'm in!

Bingo! And I agree with your first points. as far as waiting on C8.... well to be honest, some of the practicality is gone for me on it as far as cargo capacity on trips etc. Yes, it is the new flavor, but not enamoured with the GM Buttonitis HVAC stack in the Side Halo. WTF... Do touchscreen fer chrissakes... Corvette is supposed to push the envelope and be a HALO car.

To have the Ultimate expression of the C6. A wrap is not a bad idea actually. Had not considered that thank you.

No. I prefer driver engagement, more cargo room, no wierd HVAC control placement, and something relatively bug free. Let others be the Beta testers for a while.
I am out of my depth to be honest... so I seek the wisdom of others
I would not even think of spending that on a 2013 Vette, regardless. What are you going to be getting for your extra $45 thousand plus??? IT IS STILL A 2013...
Keep your current car, and save your cash. In 18 months, you can buy a 2nd year (2021) C8 with Z51 option and enjoy your car more while you still get to watch it depreciate...
I have a 2006 Covette LS2 Love the car. Impressed with the reliability, handling, power and Fuel economy.
Currently I have some 100,000 miles on it And I am perfectly happy to keep her and put on another 100,000.
BUT
Just came across a 2012 ZR1 in the ugly blue color (not blue devil blue) it has 20,000 miles on it. Looks in primo shape. Dealer wants it gone at 64K .
If you could... would you?
To ZR1 Owners, do you miss the fuel economy of the base car? Any regrets?
I need to be either talked into it or out of it.
I have zero regrets but also believe most are not buying a Corvette and worried about the fuel economy. That said, if you really want to upgrade to a ZR1 then I would continue looking for one that checks all the boxes for you rather than settle on one with a color you're not crazy about. From what I can tell, the ZR1 you listed is stock and 1 owner but hopefully wasn't abused or someone's track car. The front CF splitter doesn't look stock and it appears the side skirts are missing as well so I have to wonder why. Maybe those things don't matter to you but may also explain the pricing? Either way, good luck with your decision and I'm impressed if you DD your Vette all year long in Canada.
