Oh Help Help Help
Currently I have some 100,000 miles on it
And I am perfectly happy to keep her and put on another 100,000.BUT
Just came across a 2012 ZR1 in the ugly blue color (not blue devil blue) it has 20,000 miles on it. Looks in primo shape. Dealer wants it gone at 64K .
If you could... would you?
To ZR1 Owners, do you miss the fuel economy of the base car? Any regrets?
I need to be either talked into it or out of it.
oh yeah, some love that blue. i think its called fuel economy blue.
so you may spend 44K more than your car is worth, but you have to be talked into it?
That would be a tough call.

But being old and not caring about max performance anymore, and having liked the looks of European MEs long before the C8 came out, I would probably go for the C8. But I don't think it will fit in my barn, heh.
Oh and it has 3 pedals
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
HAHAHAHAHA... enabler you are.
I am thinking of heading up on Monday or Tuesday to take a look. And I do plan to bring the checkbook just in case.
Hence just price the cost of the rotor, which have to be replaced when they go bad, since they can not be turned to clean them up.
Next is that the car has a F55 system in it, and when a shock goes bad, you really want to replace it with another MRC shock since the F55 system is that good on that that car.
As for road coarse work, the LS9 has way more torque that the car suspension can handle, so even in a experts hands, you still run the car with ptm at 4/still burn the hell out of the tires on hard drives out of the corner. Hence at 2K, the motor is dam near at 600lb of torque of linear power and just want to roast the tires every chance it gets (even with PTM cracked down) So trust me, when you are smoking super cups are close to 2K a set on the quick side, even replacement tires gets speedy real quick.
As for ZR1 or Z07, Z07 every day of the week the way I use a Vet for road course work.
You can still get over 600hp out of a LS7, but the motor's torque curve is a lot more usable that the LS9's.

My 06 is plain jane standard suspension
It handles it's power reasonably well. I commute a lot, and DD in the summer months. That being said, I am never shy when passing on 2 lane roads and exploring the upper reaches of my tuned LS2. Currently it sits at 390RWHP with just bolt ons and some EFI Live tuning. How often do the Carbon rotors and pads need changing?

As for tires, still going to need tires that will stick with the amount of torque that the LS9 makes off the bottom, so no getting around that one with a cheap set.
And one last thing, guys tend to be hard on the LS9 clutches on used cars. On the LS9 clutch, you can tell how much wear the clutch has, but the amount of force it takes to use it. Hence the more the clutch is worn, the harder the pedal gets using it.
And no, no extended warranty covers the clutch, nor brakes and rotors, not tire wear.
So if you are thinking this to try to save you, think again since none of these parts are covered under any warranty.
Bottom line, the selling point on the C6 corvettes, is the lower mantinace cost verses the imports; Barring the Zr1 model that has a much higher maintenance cost instead. Its not as bad as say an Austin Martin or Ferrari, but is much more than the standard C6's instead.
