Not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I was trying to keep the power outlet. 2011 may have been the first year and maybe only on 3lt cars with Bose (not sure) that Chevrolet put USB and Audio in connectors in the rear of the console. The OEM is more rectangular than square but the Amazon one doesn’t give accurate dimensions.
I have that in my 2012 2LT. I've considered trying to make the old parts work with the new, like the microphone, etc. but made the decision to leave all of the old stuff in place and functional again someday if anyone ever had any reason to put the old head unit (which I'll be boxing up and putting away) back in the car. I never use those plugs in the console and almost never need to plug my phone in when in the car, which is why the wireless carplay was important to me. I'll probably take one of the usb cables and make sure it's exposed somewhere for the eventual usage of it but doubt it will get used very often. I want to be able to hop in the car, put my phone in the ProClip holder and then not have to touch it until I get where I'm going.

Using a mini-USB to USB cable from the stock late-model center console jack to a Kenwood works fine for CarPlay (that is what I did and tested, although I actually use wireless CarPlay now that it is setup). Yes, it is USB-2 cable, the 2019 Kenwood's are USB-2 in any case (the 2020s might be USB-3, I don't know).
A caution on Crutchfield ready-harness service (which I used for my DNX996XR) ... they do not capture the vehicle speed sensor wire that exists in the C6 (because, apparently, it does not exist in other GM vehicles). That means you cannot use wireless CarPlay as Crutchfield supplies everything. Fortunately, Kenwood released a firmware update for the 2019 units that eliminates the need for a speed sensor connect ... so wireless CarPlay will work (Crutchfield tech support let me know that and sent me the link to the updater).

Did the mess up? I remember connecting the speed sensor wire when I was doing my install. Basically any wire coming from the head unit gets connected to a corresponding wire on the interface, even if you think you don't need it. If you connect every wire, you are less likely to have to trouble shoot any wiring install problems later. They should follow the same procedure and just connect everything. I have a seen a few examples on the forum about guys not attaching all the wires, like the remote wire, and then asking why their head unit has no sound.
Thanks all - I think I have everything ordered now DDX8906s, PAC harness, ready wire, front and rear cameras and long USB cable. Already had the Sirius cables. I’m sure there will be questions.

Nope, they say that since most GM cars of our vintage do not have the VSS wire, they do not connect it to the interface unit. Oddly, I rewired it myself (to the interface unit) and it did not make the Kenwood happy. I did not try wiring the VSS signal straight to the head unit (bypassing the interface). So I was happy Kenwood did a firmware fix for the issue. So far as I can tell, everything works as advertised (although there are so many bloody features on that Kenwood that it might take me a year to go try them all).

My 05 has the VSS wire from the interface, and my Pioneer 8200 has the VSS wire on the head unit harness and I hooked them up. Even Pioneers newest head unit the 8600 has the VSS wire, this is from the installation instructions from the 8600
@ Pink (CAR SPEED SIGNAL INPUT)
This product is connected here to detect the distance the vehicle travels. Always connect the vehicle's speed detection circuit. Failure to make this connection will increase errors in the vehicle's location display.
I'm expecting my stuff to come tomorrow. Even though I had them pre-wire everything, I'm still planning to take the parking brake wire and ground it. I'll also look to see if the pink wire is hooked up. I'm curious if they don't hook up a particular wire, if they cut it off entirely or just leave it bare.
