Default Crashed!

Some dumbass with no insurance pulled out into traffic yesterday and hit my beautiful 07, Atomic Orange Metallic Vette. The impact was right on the rear passenger wheel. Got the door, side and rear. Rear suspension is messed up pretty bad. I could see that. Three rims damaged and some other body damage. One of my concerns is when I opened the passenger door, the fiberglass in the door was all busted up. I was just wondering if this can be fixed? I've attached a pic. I'm still sick...

**********UPDATE**********+
Well, the saga finally comes to a close, total loss. The impact pretty much destroyed the rear suspension. The front took a hit too from the curb. I thought the settlement was fair so not gonna bitch. I think it's time to go ZO6! Thanks again to everyone for all the kind words and thoughts.

Wow! That truly sucks. Sorry for your misfortune and hopefully you’re ok.

The damage appears pretty wide spread and many different parts effected. Might end up being totaled.

Good luck with whatever the insurance company decides.

I'm ok, thanks. I guess that's the best thing. I'm thinking totaled unfortunately.

What do they do with dumbasses in Texas without insurance? Shoot first, ask questions later?

Most importantly you are okay. The damage to the door and other areas appears quite severe, not sure if the door damage can be repaired it is possible you are looking at a total.

I would say totaled, you wouldn't want the fixed version as it would likely still have little issues

Looks like all replaceable parts. The only one that could be more difficult than the others is the aperture panel around the door. That goes from the A pillar, to the B pillar. It is glued to the frame so and you have to take off other things before you can get down to it. More than likely there is no damage to the structure of the car (it is a plastic body on frame and I suspect the frame wasn't touched). Will probably have to replace the upper and lower control arms, knuckle, wheel bearing, and tie rod on the side where you were hit. Again, all bolt on parts. Any good body shop should be able to repair it to like-new condition with not much effort.

The door damage is easily repairable but I would see if the insurance company would pop for a new door.

The thing about Corvettes is they can take one hell of a beating in a crash and be easily repairable. Unlike a unibody car warped cracked, broken body panels don't mean much since they aren't part of the car's structure.

Bill

He definitely wanted to start something. I think he got a ticket for no insurance, that's about it.

If repaired would it carry a lifetime digital label as wrecked and repaired?

I feel sick for you. That really sucks. There just isn't enough penalty for those without insurance. Ticket? Big whoopie. Start ticketing people $5K for no insurance and they'll decide that it is cheaper to just buy insurance.

Time to hire an attorney to go after him civilly even though he probably doesn't have much but will have an unpaid judgement against him for ever.

If we did there would be a lot of bodies around. We are covered up with illegals with no insurance. Don't know if that was the case here. It sounds like probably not.

Sounds like you are dealing with a real a-hole. Is your back starting to hurt just a little?

I feel for you, hopefully it's fixable but if not remember it's just a car and things could of been alot worse. Good luck!

Sorry to see the damage and hope things will work out with the insurance company and the other driver that is being a jerk. Not sure why this was placed in the C7 General section, but moving it over to the C6 General section.
