What trans oil for an 05 stick shift c6, I know dextron vi is specified but has anyone tried royal purple or other after market atf's with better smoother shifts?

Thanks for replying after reading 10 mins of opinions it looks like Redline or amsoil!

I use Dextron VI. I tried Royal Purple once but went back to the Dextron. I got better shifts when I changed out the shifter.

Waste of money and your time to change to a different oil...Do as said above change the shifter.

Agree, shifter is a mod that will make a far more pronounced difference. MGW seems to be preferred by most here. Have one and love it! Tried anti-venom mod too, but went back to not using the copper spacers. Prefer that feel.

Changed fluid a while after shifter install. In my case RL D4 ATF does feel better. It’s subtle, but most noticeable once car is warmed up.

Note too, if car is z51 and do change fluid (regardless of choice) be sure to drive it a bit then top off due to trans fluid cooler being filled.

I am using an MGW shifter, AMSOil, one venom mod ring, oiled and greased packed linkage U joint ( transmission end under the rubber boot as it enters the transmission). Each made an improvement. My shifts are very smooth now.

Yea I installed the mgw just recently, but I'm doing a rear main seal and a new mantic 9000 so I want to address all I can while drive train is out. The t56 has always been notchy
