Orig Poster: Your Vette is 14 years old. I'm surprised you kept it that long. Time to sell it and get a 2013 C6 or even a C7, if you still enjoy Vettes... IMO.
BTW, I have a '09 C6 (under 30,000 miles) without any of the issues you originally stated...so far.
Any car that is not maintained properly will have problems. Most of your problems could have been fixed with minimal effort. But someone chose not to fix them and as usual they got worse. Loose weatherstrip? Glue it back. $5.
Creaky top? Dialectic Grease. $8
And so on.
You knew you had a problem with your Targa and knew about the problem. Why did you not fix it??
No maintenance is not the same as crappy build quality.
Sell it and I hope you have better luck on your next car, but I doubt it.
Those pesky "American made" issues cost a hell of a lot less than "German made" or "Italian made" issues.
Honestly, WTF does "American made issue" mean? Any car made by any car manufacturer can have issues. The country of issue doesn't mean crap.
Please don’t play me for a fool. You honestly believe that American made parts are made the same way as German/Japanese made parts? I can say that you’re either in denial or just clueless. Japanese made cars and I know from experience, rarely have any issues. These plastic cheap made parts all over the C6 is absolutely ridiculous. My roof fell off! That says it all. I tell everyone that story and they’re in shock. The recall was for real. Again, look all over the internet. Look on this thread. “Flying roof club”. That’s not even the worst part. The worst part is the torque tube connector rattling for years under my car sounding like a broken down Honda/Mitsubishi. This car was made extremely poor and how some of you don’t realize it, means you’re in denial. Like I said, I love the way the car looks and the engine is a monster. Other than that, the car quality is complete crap. 💩
Sorry for all the issues you are having. The reality is, whether you bought the car new yourself or not, you now have a 14 year old car. Things are going to happen. Some may never have problems with their cars, some may. I bought my 2008 with around 80K miles. It's also had some issues, but I fixed them and moved on. It doesn't matter whether you have a Chevy, Ford, Toyota, BMW, or Mercedes. When a car gets older, it will have issues creep up.
1. Buy a new roof and move on. You can get a nice transparent for less than $800 (used) and a nice regular one for $500 (used).
2. Fix it yourself, search the threads.
3. Buy some weather strip adhesive and fix it yourself. I have one place in my hatch on the halo where it comes off occasionally. Just been too lazy to get some adhesive out.
4. Buy a new ****.
5. Probably need to pull the under dash cover off and see what's going on up there.
6. Very common issue, and I've had it on mine. I fixed it for under $10 and about 2 hours of my time.
I hope you can get your car taken car of and then you will be all happy again... Until the next issue pops up...
I bought a new roof and still same issue. Happened with my first roof and my second 😂 This car is made so crappy it’s laughable.

Your rant was well received. Your personal experiences were unfortunate & fairly unique. Sure you had poorly made roof panel(s), but the majority of us haven't experienced that. Sell your crappy car (your words) and buy a car you think is better engineered.

I can say that you need to work on your reading comprehension skills. I never said anything about quality of parts. I specifically said the German and Italian parts would COST more. No clue where you got Japanese from anything I said.

No idea how you went from Europe to Japan, but you believe what you want to believe.

Yet you still have it. Go figure.
Oh, FYI, my vert is 13 years old, has 72k+ miles, and it's been the most reliable car I've ever owned, and that includes every Japanese car I've owned as well.

Why did you not fix it for years?
Sounds like all your problems are your own making.
After all these so called problems with this so called crappy car that you say you bought new why would you keep it all the years ? No sympathy from me, but you might get some cheese to go with your whining.
I have had about 20 Corvettes ranging in vintage from 1959 to 2011. I have put about 80k miles on two C6's. I am a Corvette enthusiast. And loyal. My Corvettes, when maintained properly, have been as reliable as my previously owned BMW, RAV4, Saturn, Ford Escape, etc, and my current 2007 Colorado with 120k miles.
Have you had bad luck? Perhaps. Is it a lack of maintenance issue? Perhaps.
If the car is that much a headache I strongly suggest you get rid of it.
The worst part is the torque tube connector rattling for years under my car...
Cars require maintenance. All cars.
As for...
Japanese made cars ..., rarely have any issues
This is far, far too broad a statement. What are you defining as an "issue"? I've owned (still own) many, & I mean MANY, Japanese cars too. Try not changing the head gasket on a Subaru, 2.5 liter 4-cylinder boxer engine, every 105k miles and see how 'issue free' you stay. Yes, Japanese-made cars have --on the whole-- historically good reliability reputations, & deservedly so, but the statement that they 'rarely have any issues' is categorically false. There's a reason the phone books (if those still existed) in every city in America are filled with ads for Japanese repair shops. If all those cars ever needed were oil, filter and brake pad changes there wouldn't be nearly enough work to keep all those joints in business.
wayback's meme = right on.
Time to let this one go.

I bought my 2008 Corvette Z51 new in July of 2007. Since then I have put on about 51,000 miles.
Early on it was leaking oil due to a poorly manufactured oil pan gasket. The rear hatch also squeaked. Both were repaired under warranty. GM also replaced my 2 front wheels due to pitting. Other than that, there have not been any other repairs made to the car.....only changing fluids, replacing tires. Overall, it's been extremely reliable.
