I would check to see if a paid subscription is required for the Ring camera. I'm personally using the Escort M2 dash cam that mounts along side my Escort radar detector and the power connection powers both the camera and my radar detector. https://www.escortradar.com/collections/dash-cams
I have three different versions of Rexing in my three different vehicles....All have front and rear cameras and the one in the vette has front, rear, & cabin cameras.
I would attach a video of some track time...but it is in mp4 format which for some reason this forum doesn't accept.
Converted the high rez mp4 to a lower rez mov file.... just to give you an idea of it.
A good way to add video here is to take your original video file to You Tube, make the video there, then post the link to your YouTube video here.

Street Guardian is a good choice if you want to buy from an American company that has an excellent customer service record. I run a SGGCX2PRO in both our cars.
Have any Corvette Forum members installed the Ring Dashcam on their C7 ‘Vette? I have a 2017 Grand Sport and I’m getting ready to install the Ring Dashcam. I’ve checked Ring’s installation guidelines and don’t see any issues with connecting to the ‘Vette’s OBDII port, but wanted to check with the Forum before I actually install it.
if you’ve installed the Ring Dash Cam to your C7’s OBDII port, I’d like to know how it’s going? No issues?
I’ve been using a standard 1080p Dashcam powered by one of the 12v connectors in the console for the last five years with no issues - other than there is no power to the Dashcam when the vehicle is turned off. The C6 I had prior to my C7 kept the power on to the 12v outlet, but the C7 does not. (The power outlet in the trunk is “always on”, but I would have to run a power cord from the trunk into the cabin which I prefer not to do.)
I use Nexar in my cars. No issues unlimited cloud saves. Can send alerts to group members incase of accident. For multiple cars just make sure you change the name of your camera.
I had a Viofo in my Volvo xc40. It was great. Had Viofo cams in my mach e's to. Front and rear. I plan putting the front cam in my C6 vert. Grand Sport and using the OBD port for power. Its better than wiring it to the fuse panel. Viofo even stores the video for you. You can check all the recordings on your phone.

As a side note. This company DONGAR TECHNOLOGIES had the best power source from the mirror. For radar detectors and dash cams. Not running wires all over the place. I just wrote them to see if they have anything for Chevrolet. I used them in my mach e's. And the set up was so clean and simple. Keep your eye on them.
Thanks for the info. Good timing too. I haven’t bought a new dash cam for my 2017 Grand Sport convertible just yet, I’m still using the old one I bought for the C6 I had back in the 20teens.
I have a Honda Pilot for my other car, and I bought a Ring Dash Cam for it when they were being released as a ‘trial or beta’. It’s OK, but I wouldn’t buy it again. It powers using the OBD port under the dash, which is convenient and provides continuous power, but it frequently goes into ‘sleep mode’ to save power, so it’s not very effective at taking videos when the car is powered off. Since that was the whole point of “always powered”, I don’t find it to be a good solution.

If you get the correct OBD port connecter you can keep power to the camera on ALL the time. There is a switch on the bottom for this function..I had mine set so when the car started the camera was on, car off, camera off. If you look into it that is what you will find out. Hope this helps. Oh I bought it on Amazon.
As a note, the OBD connector was on my Volvo XC40, as Dongar did not have a mirror power source at that time.
Hi curious? I have a c6 and was told the dash cam would be to far down the windshield
Do you have a picture of what yours looks like I plan on using a battery backup for power.
