I believe what is being stated is that most C8 owners are not old fashioned "car guys" or into classic or muscle cars. If they see an older Corvette (C1-C7), they probably don't even know it's a Corvette, let alone acknowledge the driver of one. They don't have or want any comradery with other Corvette owners. To them, it's just an appliance that they will unload in a few years.
To your point, I attend a few car shows. Local and Carlisle. I've been asked if I show my cars and that's always a hard "no." I've owned my C5 for 14 years and I always felt silly showing a car that was basically a new car, at least when I bought it. My C6 is a 2013 with very low miles and I feel the same way.
I also agree that C8 owners don't have the same attachment to their cars as some of the other generations. Not all of them but a good amount. I think it's because the C8 is trendier than other versions. I think it attracts buyers who buy what's in style today and they could care less about the history of the car.
We wave 100% of the time; and almost always get a return. When we don’t, it destroys our ride and whole day. We immediately return home, go in the house, get under our bed and pout.
